blackjack Posted June 28, 2003 Report Share Posted June 28, 2003 what cheap woods would you recommend i use to practise making bodys so i dont waste expensive wood? id like it to behave like mahogany or other similar woods. obviously the tone it produces isnt really important, i just want something that i can experiement with and not worry about destroying it. krazyderek Posted June 28, 2003 Report Share Posted June 28, 2003 basswood can be kinda soft though... so you might be able to "wing" things with it that alder ( a bit harder wood) may not allow.... like deep router passes... etc... alder is a good choice.... poplar is good too..
