Lietuvis
That looks very nice indeed... my V is taking a very long time as well.(approx. 6 months already)
erikbojerik
This is a very interesting guitar...lots of quirky deco-ish stuff going on, I like it! The bridge is pretty interesting...did you machine it yourself? What do all the switches do?
skibum5545
I really like the feel of this guitar. It's got a very retro thing going on, and the pickups really add a lot to it. Oh, and Lietuvis, your avatar is awesome.
american_jesus
*ehhem* red special...did you guys not catch that one? anyways, nice work..looks very nice, and i'm sure it plays great too.
Mattw04
Hi Guiys Yes the the bridge is to the original design back in the 60's, you won;t of see it, Its was machined by a friend of mine 3 mm rollers stainless steel and aluminum saddles. The 6 white switches, the top 3 nearest the pickups are the pickup on and off switchs. The lower 3 are the phasing switches so you can get all kinds of sounds and tones. oh ya 21 over all lol, Pickups are made by adeson in the uk
marksound
How's the intonation?
Mattw04
hi mark sound intonations fine as long as you get it in the rite place! better than my tuno matic actually!
marksound
Maybe it's just me, but the saddle placement looks kinda ... off.
Mattw04
Maybe it's just me, but the saddle placement looks kinda ... off. well sounds and intonates fine here
Daniel Sorbera
thats really really weird. Do you have some kind of nut compensation? Or did you screw up the placement of the nut? Because it's physicly impossiable to intonate properly with the saddles set how they are. So either A. you don't know what your doing B. somethigs seriously wrong C. your not pressing down the strings correctly (as in, not all the same pressure) Do you have any up close shots of the nut area? I'd love to see some. Edited March 8, 2006 by Godin SD

Lord-of-the-strings
Do you have any up close shots of the nut area? I'd love to see some. Good one
Mattw04
theres an image of the nut, just an ordinary Bakerlite nut, with zero fret so the nut acts as a string guide, in effect,
rokeros
the obvious thing here about the nut is that the angles of the first 3 strings and the other 3 strings are differnt. And the G string looks quite deep into the nut.
Daniel Sorbera
Heres a few things to check since you can't really tell from a picture. Are you sure the string is pressing down on the zero fret hard enough? What I'm saying is make sure the nut slots are deep enough. Are you sure the zero fret is crowned correctly so the the string contacts the fret exatly in the center of it?
Mattw04
hi there the guitar is fine it does not rattle buzz or anything like that open or playing it plays fine. headstock is 4 degrees neck pitch is 2 degrees theres nothing to change as it plays fine anyway? it intonates correctly.. why would i changet it?
Daniel Sorbera
I guess you don't need to change anything if it does intonate correctly. I just for the life of me can not figure out why the saddels need to be set the way they are. It just defies the laws of physics.
Mattw04
mate its easyto explain its a guitar which was made in the 60/s made of block board and crap course it defys the laws of pysics LOL
Santah
guitar looks excellent some very interesting pieces of hardware on that thing I agree that the bridge setup is a bit weird, but if the intonation is correct then who cares. Guitarfrenzy
Good job on the guitar, I at one time had wanted to build a replica of Brian May's Red Special also, but never got around to it. You definitely did it well. I'm also curious about the intonation, but if you say it is intonated we'll just have to take your word. Again, congrats on the great build!!
