Scott Rosenberger
get an inexpensive Heat Gun and take your time doing it so you dont burn the body
EKG
Is the finish similar to an Ibanez? I strip mine using a single edge razor blade. Find the nearest chip and start from there. BEING VERY CAREFUL, I slide the razor blade between the wood and finish and it chips off easily. The inside of the horns are the hardest part. All the flat areas came off easy. john
if you are planning on doing a solid colour paint job , you are probably better off leaving the original finish behind as factory finishes are extremely flat and are a good base from which to work with. you could repair any dings with auto body filler then sand, primer and paint. john. westhemann
only thing is that paint is heavy.if you don't believe me pick up a pint of it.and that's about how much weight you will be adding to an already paint heavy body. i just used some chemical stripper on one of mine.but you still have to use a scraper and lots of elbow grease.but i had the best luck letting it set for only 5 minutes and then scraping.then repeat until you reach bare wood. sure is messy though.i think the heat gun is a good idea. Brian
If you want the Relic look tie it to the motorcycle and tow it around Kid's don't try this at home The heat gun method would probably be your best bet since sanding can get difficult inside the horns and you say the chemical stripper isn't doing the job...
