George Brown
a closed back cab may help in this situation as there more "directionial" with thier sound, if you check out celestions site there stuff about how a more efficient speaker can double the apparent volume, rember loundness is measured in decibels not watts, i used to have trouble cutting through with my old line 6 spider it was 120watts but even though i turned up the volume i couldnt seem the "punch through"

Daniel Sorbera
This sounds more like an eq problem than a volume problem. You do know that your tone needs to be eqed diffrently to sound good in the context of a band right? Just stating the obvious thought you probably know all about this... marksound
More speakers will give you more volume at the same wattage.
Primal
Why not just get a small PA for extra sound reenforcement? Keep the tone of your Laney, just make it louder.

mikhailgtrski
I totally want a 4x10 cab. You must have a roadie...or a really strong back! I totally want a 4x12 to replace my 2x12. Casters and/or a hand truck are essential for us old guys that like the big hardware.
alucardm911
a closed bak combo amp would proll ybe best especially if ur using ur amp as a moniter, as for tube or solid state its all up to u a closed bak would provide more clearer tone and pull out more clarity so.... newayz but try that cuz and open bak can more easily get lost in the mix

Robert_the_damned
Just to answer your question about the combined rating of the speakers: if you connect them in series they'll be 8 ohms if they're connected in parrallell they'd be rated at 2 ohms. hope that helps.
