rhoads56
Havent posted anything in ages, so here goes.... Finished this one at 4pm this arvo, and it looks like its found a new home already... I just wanted a to build a fun looking guitar, with a nice birdseye maple neck, to use as a "sample" for my new Standard Range of guitars. They are cut back a bit from the full Customshop jobs, but still available with a heap of options. The first batch of Standards wasnt completely sold, so i added this one in to the mix to finalise the numbers, and give myself a treat (ive got clients who own more of my guitars than i do, that sux!).... but its on hold for a guy now, so we'll have to wait and see... Ok, the details: Alder body, heavy birdseye maple neck and fretboard (need better pics). Genuine Floyd Rose (recessed), Seymour Duncan p/up, Gotoh tuners. 1 x 500k volume pot. The finish: one coat of high fill primer, one coat of custom mix "overdrive blue", one coat of clear, flames in base coat, one coat of clear, hand pinstriped in baby blue, one heavy coat of clear, rubbed back, one coat of clear, rubbed back, buffed as usual to a mirror shine http://www.monaro.com.au/guitars/diary/Cus...stdstar001k.jpg Still needs the trem back plate and strap buttons. http://www.monaro.com.au/guitars/diary/Cus...stdstar001m.jpg http://www.monaro.com.au/guitars/diary/Cus...stdstar001p.jpg Of course, what would this guitar be without the pedal which inspired it?? http://www.ormsbyguitars.com/pedals/super4.jpg

biliousfrog
I hate pointy, "novelty" guitars & flames are on everything now so I should really hate it.....but it ROCKS!!! how did you go about the pinstriping?...is it just a case of masking either side & spraying, painting by brush or something else? rhoads56
how did you go about the pinstriping?...is it just a case of masking either side & spraying, painting by brush or something else? Pinstriping by hand with a brush looks much more "natural" to me, rather than masking and spraying. The lines all vary in thickness, but thats whats cool about it. Its about the same time to do it either way, i just prefer the one which looks more 'hand made'.
lovekraft
Electric blue, real Ol' Skool Hot Rod flames, hand pinstriped - Dude, you rule!!! That reminds me of an old '39 Merc they used to run on the strip the odd weekend when I was much younger, total class!! Thanks for sharin' this one. BTW, what's in the stompbox? I'm assuming it's a boost/overdrive/distortion - your own design? Really nice work on that, too!!
rhoads56
Its a TS808 clone, with both end toggles facing each other. Left switch is exponential bass boost and mid cut control, right switch is exponential gain control. So, its a tube screamer, but much much more. You cant see the switches on the end, but they are there...
Daniel Sorbera
That is so cool. I like the hot rod flames. Very unique as far as flames go.
