Dimas4108
Painted the body with basecoat last night and began the finish today. I did the sides and the back when my stupid self bumped the body and i grabed it before it fell and put a huge smudge on the back. Which was cool i had to sand respray the black but I was really pleased with the look I got. And yes I didn't wanr ro spend allot of money on this project since it's my first time. I've already stripped the body 3 times sanded it 3 times painted it 3 1/2 times so with the amount of time and money on paint laquer sandpaper and stripper it will proablly wind up costing me $ for this project. But if it looks cool and I learn a little something from then It'll be money well spent.
Dimas4108
Ok I repainted the body and Laquered. Not peeling, curling or lifting. Mohawk laquer tone finishes are the way to go. They also have stains for those of you looking to stain and not paint. I sprayed about 6 coats of laquer sanded and spray another coat all of them with a flattening agent in the laquer almost like a satin. tommorow I plan on sanding again the spraying a few coats of High Gloss. Compound and polish and all should be good. This was my 3rd try at this and I think I've got it down now. The sides and front of the body are great the back didn't come out as well as I would have liked but it looks good. These were all furniture refinishing products I used. I would highly recommend them for anyones projects over any type of spray paint. The laquer was applied with a gun so I have no clue how those are. Also the is a product they use called flotrol or something like that helps with fisheye and clouding. It costs a little more but beats refinishing after your almost there. Drak
I think you've done a great job of it! :D
Therioz
Awesome finish, very convincing faux Snakeskin. I think that finish would look even better on the top only with a faux binding in white or black. I'm sure whoever buys that guitar will be happy with that finish. anderekel
Well, I gotta say, it doesn't look like snake skin, but it does look awesome. Great job man.

Dean
I know your doing the best you can ,third time and all.....and it is in the right direction, but it is not snakeskin in the truest since. It needs more shades and shapes.having said that if the buyer is happy thats all that matters.I think it is a good first go at a snake paint job.I give you a A+ for your effort. Dimas4108
Looking at it in the pictures you can't really see the detail of the shading i did, but i agree i'm going to add some pattern to like Dimartini's anaconda strat. Dimas4108
I sprayed one coat of laquer on the body last night but I used a matte finish on it, I kind of like the look what are your opinions on gloss levels. Should I go with a igh gloos semi gloss or a low luster finish. Of course i'll need to compound and polish it whaen i'm done laquering but I've never done this before so A little input would be great. I was figuring on like 5 or 6 more coats of laquer before i compound that will give it like 20 coats.
