ultraman
did anyone try one of these? im thinking of getting one. does it stand up to the regular strats?
The Nordic Gawd
apparently the splat is like super fake. it's like paper photocopied.
westhemann
i thought the splatter was actual splattered paint?
canuckguitarist
i thought the splatter was actual splattered paint? it is. not on just paper either. on the guitar.
canuckguitarist
isn't it just a standard series strat?

canuckguitarist
are you asking about the finish or the playability of the guitar? I don't like the finish that much and I'm pretty sure the guitar is just a standard series strat.
bluespresence
Standard strat with splattered paint. Sounds the same as a strat - is a strat is a strat..... The paint is kind of thick. I'm curious to see how it holds up over a few years of actual playing and handling. Anyone have one yet?
ultraman
is there a layer oflacquer or something on top of the splattered paint to keep it nice?
bluespresence
Yeah, it looks like a coat of clear satin (poly-u probably) over the top but you can still feel the bumps from the different layers of paint. That's why I wonder how it's going to hold up over time.
Brian
I thought about making one just for the childhood memorys of spin art Using a baby pool from Walmart with a router on a table and a variac to slow it down. Just bolt through the body in a pickup cavity (through the spring cavity on the back of the body of course) and have fun with paint! Messy job though and the clearcoat could take a very long time to build up before smoothing it out without taking to much of the splatter color off.
