ultraman Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 So i finally got it !!! After discussing my buy with some people on this forum and testing it out myself, i decided it was fit for me. I found another one for a little cheaper in another shop while i was hunting... It sounds great!!! The clean channel is just beautiful and has a crunch setting which makes it sound really bluesy. The distortion on the other hand, isnt the best like some people have pointed out to me.But it doesnt matter too much because i have a boss me-50 multi effects board. It came with a solid footswitch which even can control the reverb unlike the newer models.I just love it.Its loaded with a 12 inch celestion speaker and not a marshall heritage. It cost me 500$ with the footswitch.( 50$ less than in my local shop!) i love it! Theres one problem i came across with this amp. Have a look Here Quote

weezerboy Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 i have the exact same amp, i bought it off my guitar teacher three years ago...the valves have never been replaced and it sounds fu**ing awesome Quote
ultraman Posted January 1, 2004 Author Report Posted January 1, 2004 nice mine has a 3 months guarantee how much is it to change a valve? Quote
weezerboy Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 valves in the UK valves in the US it doesn't cost a lot , valves are pretty cheap really, and as your amp is a valvestate theres less valves to replace edit: whoah..did i just make a useful post to something? Quote
ultraman Posted January 1, 2004 Author Report Posted January 1, 2004 oh good, i had the impression they costed like 100$ each the valvestate is a hybrid amp. half solid state/half tube. it only has one tube Quote
MikeB Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 cats have 9 lives tho!! only kiddin, poor wee kitty... Quote
Speedy McFeely Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 i am really sour on changing tubes. my old dual recto had like 100 tubes in it. i had to change them last year...300 bucks for tubes!!! my 5150 which replaced the recto, only has 5 12ax7s and 2 6L6s... paradise Quote

ultraman Posted January 4, 2004 Author Report Posted January 4, 2004 yeahhhhh thats my favorite thing about it so much contrast!!!! knob to the left left side sounds like and old stack and right is a hugely rectified modern amp i love it! Quote
daveq Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Just curious, what amps have you used (int it's class) that have a better distortion channel? I have two EQ's and some other effects running through my valestate and absolutely love the dist. channel. Quote
