GuitarMaestro Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Where can I download or buy a set of plans for the Jackson Randy Rhoads Guitar? Thanks in advance, Marcel Knapp! Quote
Snork Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 tough find. I'd think your best bet would to be take measurements and make a cad drawing of it yourself Quote

GuitarMaestro Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Thanks for your Answers! Those inlays look very cool Rhoads! Seems I have to draw the plans myself.... Quote
jammy Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Randy plans can be found here - second one down . Not looked at the plan but I knew it was there... Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Thank you very much for the link! Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 I looked at the plans, and I wonder why Jackson did not choose to let the body lines run straight into the neck, but to make that strange shape where the body meets the neck. Is there any other reason than optical design for doeing that? I think it would look cooler if the two edges of the body would meet the neck without that strange curve. Quote
jbkim Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I think it would look cooler if the two edges of the body would meet the neck without that strange curve. Heh, since you're making this guitar yourself, you can do that . Quote
jammy Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Upper fret access I think is the answer - if the body and the neck joined with a smooth line the neck 17th upwards would be super wide, and a bit hard to use. Try and have a look at some pics of the neckjoint from the front and back, I personally think its a great idea! Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Thanks for your answers. Upper fret access I think is the answer - if the body and the neck joined with a smooth line the neck 17th upwards would be super wide, and a bit hard to use You're right here. But I think I'll change a little, so that the body edges meet at the neck at the point, where the strange shaping on the original begins. This will look better and give even better access to the upper frets. This is perhaps only possible with a neck-through-neck which could be the reason why Jackson did not do that as well. What do you think? Quote
jammy Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 The origional RR's were neck through as I can understand, so I doubt it was because they couldn't. I think it just must have been the way Randy wanted. In the pic below there is one of the jackson custom shop team holing randy's origonal wooden template for his guitar that he made for the custom shop - and there on there Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Hmm....I have to make up my mind on which design I prefer....I wish I could borrow that template though.... Quote
