Fowl2338
Hey guys. I will be starting two new builds here soon. One will be an Explorer for the other guitarist in my band and one will be a PRS clone for myself. Catch is, they will both be 27" scale. Will the bodies need to be enlarged to accommodate the longer scale? I do not want them to be neck-heavy....especially worried about the Explorer. killemall8
nope. Shouldnt be a problem as long as you put the strap button ont eh back instead of the front.

killemall8
Correct. even 24.74" scale necks wont balance with it on teh side.
Prostheta
The 26.5" scale on my seven-string didn't affect anything, so yeah. Keep everything as-is. Good point about strap buttons though.
flyneye
27" is pretty short scale for a bari. 29" and 30" let those two low strings do their stuff without the mud. My next bari will have multi scale 29" on the low end and 26.5" on the high side with the 9th fret @ 90 deg. Prostheta
Depends on the string gauge. I hate the massive gauges necessary for short scales and low tunings, and I found 26.5" a really nice combination when I used lighter top strings with slightly heavier low end gauges. It's just a question of balancing the pros and cons of each tactic.
WezV
i would put 30" as almost too long for a bari, its really in that crossover territory between bari and bass - although on a fanned fret baritone it will be nice. Those high strings dont work particularly well at 30" 27" is on the short side but does work well when (as pro suggests) matched with an appropriate string gauge
