jessejames
Anyone know where I can get a good air or pnuematic press? I want to start using a press to glue my tops instead of using 8 million clamps. I can find them, just not with a good enough depth for a guitar body. Prostheta
Not sure about the presses specifically, however you might as well make up some proper clamps. 3-4 press clamps made from a couple of 10cm square hardwood blocks which span the top and have threads either side are easier and take up less room. Adding a slight convex bow (<3mm/1/8"?) to the pressure bearing faces concentrates pressure from the centre outwards. I should perhaps make some myself when I have an immediate use for them.... These are more than sufficient and cheaper unless you want production level equipment. Or have much money to spend. :-)
DC Ross
If you have a halfway decent compressor, go for an inexpensive vac bag setup: Space Bags (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=16698563) and a Harbor Freight vac pump (http://www.harborfreight.com/air-vacuum-pump-with-r134a-and-r12-connectors-96677.html). Get some air fittings and a valve, and voila -- cheap bagging solution.
