joris Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 hy, last weekn-end i went to a local shop to buy my hardware, but i came home empty handed. I was looking for a non trem strat style bridge. They told me it didn't exist. does anyone know where i can get this stuff? I was thinking of using Vintage noiseless pickups from Fender. The guy from the shop told me it was a bad choice (probably because he did not have this set.) He told me i should be using DiMarzio, but here in Belgium they are very expensive (like 120 $ a piece). Did any of you use fender pickups ?? Looking for some help here. Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Stewmac sells several strat-style non-tremolo bridges and they are cheap too. HTH, Marcel Knapp! Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 The Fender Noiseless pickups are great. they're basically the same as the Dimarzio Stacked coil design. Your dealer doesn't sound very knowledgable and I would shop elsewhere if you continue to get biased recommendations from him Quote
joris Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 Thanks, I didn't trust the guy anywhey. I'll look for another shop to buy the fender pickups. Oh yeah, I've looked at the stewmac site. It looks like they've got it all. Just checking out what it would cost to get it into Belgium. What if i used a tun-o-matic type of bridge? Should the radius of my bridge be the same as the radius of this type of bridge? It seems logical to me, but I could be wrong. greetings, joris Quote
Snork Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 check out the lace holy grail pickups [drool] those are amazing i'm putting them in my guitar. sure you can use a tune-o-matic. But you need to angle the neck and you need a stop tail bridge piece. Where as with the fender non-trem you dont need a tune o matic. Quote
joris Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 ok thanks, i think i'll stick with the non trem bridge. as it is my first guitar installing a trem bridge looks a little bit too complicate to me. maybe i'll try this later. hey and thanks for the tip on the pickups. i'm checking if i can get them here i my country. Quote
Snork Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 i bet you can get them in your country peace man! Quote

syxxstring Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Isnt the schaller stuff made in germany? Id check the manufacturers sites for distributors in your country. Quote
joris Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 It's a guitar shop allright. If you go to this site, you can have a look inside. http://www.rockpalace.com/keymusic/sn/ I go to another hardware store to buy routerbits etc... The only bridge they sell is one to put a car on. Other question. I'm not using a pickguard on the body of the guitar. I was thinking of reversing the normal strat setup. I mean i was thinking of routing the pickups from the back of the body, leaving just enough wood on the top to mount the pickups, pots en switch. Do you guys think this is possible, or will the wood that is left be to thin to mount these things in a solid way? Quote
tsl602000 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 you went to a hardware store looking for a non-trem style bridge?!?! hardware stores don't carry guitar bridges. wow, that was very funny. I'm still laughing..... NOT I'm sure Joris really appreciated your "help" Joris, you might wanna try Texas & Tweed in Holland (phone 0031 118 470935) the non trem strat bridge by Gotoh is 34 euro excl.
