Frank Plante
Hey guys, I am building a guitar and I want a humbucker in the neck and single coils for the middle and bridge positions. I would like 3 volumes and 3 tones, is this possible? If so, can someone get me a diagram or does anybody know who I could contact to get the info? Thanks a lot! mistermikev
sure it's possible. go look at a diagram for any single pickup with a single vol and tone. then do that times 3... just connect the live wire (from jack) to all three volumes in the same spot. for example: you would just connect the middle lug on all three volumes together and of course the ground of the tones together. edit edit... not left most... the middle lugs would connect together! mistermikev
the one downside being that any 1 volume when turned fully off would turn off the guitar for all 3 pickups... this may or may not be a problem. if it is... you could just swap the middle and left most lugs on all 3. ADFinlayson
I would take a look at how a les paul is wired, because the principle is the same just with an extra pickup and I guess probably 5-way blade instead of a toggle - Instead of wiring 3 pickups into a switch then switch to a volume, you wire each pickup to it's volume, then the 3 volumes are wired to the switch. It would be cool to use a push/pull for your humbucker tone so you can switch the guitar from HSS to SSS.
