Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Is the ryobi a good deal? I like their stuff from what I have tried, but what do you think? Its the one at home depot. looking for a good pic now. Quote
westhemann Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 i found a free tablesaw at a jobsite the other day...the motor burned up and they were going to throw it away but i took it instead....now i need a motor Quote
tsl602000 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 U used spalted maple? bad luck... maybe a new motor will fix it? Quote
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I am pretty sure thats it. going to look later. This one is $99. Pretty much the same as the old one. kindga scary..... Quote
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 A new motor would fix that issue, but no the fact that its scary as hell. The fence likes to do it's own thing, so it needs to be clamped on. Besides, the miter piece on the ryobi would be handy, and I could resaw body woods on it...eliminating the need for a radial arm saw. And it wasn't spalted maple. It was a piece of purpleheart. That stuff seems to get denser every time I buy it. Here's the wierd part. The saw has dome fine before. I decided that if I changed to a brand new carbide blade with more teeth, I'd put less strain on the poor thing. ***??? the bastard catches fire! Quote
tsl602000 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 And it wasn't spalted maple I was refering to my top that catched fire...:-) Quote
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 ah yes, your flaming maple. I caught the joke. Perhaps it was the fact that the purpleheart is flamed... Quote
soapbarstrat Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 It might be coming from you. When I was first starting out repairing guitars, I'd often get so frustrated that light bulbs would explode in my workshop, just from me thinking too hard (?). Not just in one light fixture either. The worst was in another room, the 'paint room', since I probably got the most frustrated with painting. Quote
eddiefletcher Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Old topic I know but I have a 12" Ryobi Compound mitre saw and its fantastic. I had an old Dewalt one but this kicks its arse. It has a laser sight and is accurate as well, something I was kinda dubious about... But seriously I have nothing but praise for it. Quote
litchfield Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Ryobis rock here is what I wound up with: Quote
erikbojerik Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 That one looks better; but do the legs in all of them look a bit flimsy, or is that just me? Quote
