Brian
I might be interested soon myself. I've already found a source locally for 4/4 and 8/4 mahogany thats 12" to 13" and I found a source for Koa the same size as well. Just scored a 3hp router and new table that I can set-up especially for doing body's this summer. Might have a go at necks from scratch as well. Basswood would be a great alternative to get some practice on
DaveK
Brian: What kind of bodies are you thinking of doing?????? Any thoughts on what you will be charging? Dave K P.S. is a 3 hp router the minimum needed for guitar bodies?
Brian
Well for starters probably RG Strat and Tele style since I can build the templates from what I already have in the shop. Yes anything under 2 to 2-1/2 hp would wear out quicker when doing the edge's of a 1-3/4" thick piece of wood, especially if you plan on doing it regularly. Not that it couldn't be done, it's just that I want to be able to do a whole bunch of stuff and not worry about wear n tear on the equiptment. vh-guitarstore.com
let me know....i dont mind, but if it becomes a all the time deal, i might have to make a few pennies, at least for scott i have daily access to over 250 species of wood, so its not a big deal
