kpnutz52
Hey all, after seeing the inlay template/drawings done by VDL guitars i decided you modify one and customize it....... its pretty simple but none-the-less its another design for people to use...... what you all think? Dan
If you turned them vertical it would be better although its good work!
LGM Guitars
looks good, althought the ones at the 24th fret need to be smaller or the frets will cover the edges, especially if you use a jumbo fret like the dunlop 6100's or 6000's

Guest AlexVDL
Yes exactly it is a little owl sitting on a branch Good eyes hehehe
Pushead
Yeah cool Alex. How do you make yours? I modified this in Photoshop. It's a early-concept version of my Flying-V project. At first I was thinking a Red Baron style with a Ferarri-Red body and Black Iron Cross on the top wing.
Brian
There is some sweet stuff here, if nobody minds I'm going to snatch it all up and add it to the page's over on the site as it come's in. kpnutz52, I got the new heart's one and the other one. I'll upload them tonight since I'm on prime time on the net for the moment (yeah it cost's more to be on during the day time here go figure). I'm also interested in grabbing up all of the blueprints from you guy's over on the other threads.
PaulNeeds
Hi chaps - some nice ideas here. Tell me, as an aside, what are your collective views on the notion of retro-fitting such inlays to an already existing neck - my strat is what I have in mind - rosewood fingerboard, and quite unoriginal already. I quite like the weird idea of PRS birds on a strat actually, although the fleur-de-lys are also quite appealing. I don't want to refret the instrument as it plays fine. I'm just wondering the advisability of trying this as a first attempt, any potential snags that might make me change my ideas or not do it at all.. kpnutz52
Yes exactly it is a little owl sitting on a branch Good eyes hehehe Oops! i always thought that it was like a flight path of one bird.... with its wings moving up and down etc..... i only just realised they all different birds..... Guest AlexVDL
If you want to know exactly what birds they are look at this.
Brian
I don't want to refret the instrument as it plays fine. I'm just wondering the advisability of trying this as a first attempt, any potential snags that might make me change my ideas or not do it at all.. The biggest problem your going to run into is leveling the inlays themselve's, which is near impossible unless you have plenty of time and patience.
