frankie
Sorry about all my posts, but here goes. a 1 3/4" korina body a 1/4" maple top with a maple neck and i want a maple fretboard, but would mop block inlays look good on it?? I think it usually is used on ebony and rosewood for the contrast, dark wood light inlays. but would basically light wood and light inlays work??? thanks
GregP
It's been done. I personally don't find it particularly sharp, but that's just me. Nice enough guitar, but no contrast to the inlays. Greg

krazyderek
you could do black outlines around the pearl? or use abalone?

frankie
Alright I've decided to just go with white, and change my fingerboard to something dark and exotic. Does anybody know what would go good with a maple neck and my setup?
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Ebony or purpleheart would be nice. As you will learn, Derek and I advocate for purpleheart.
frankie
I've already tried ebony, so maybe I'll use purpleheart.
urbansmurf
purpleheart is wicked dense. what kind of tools are you using? its been known to set table saws ablaze. cocobolo would look real nice, but look out for the dust as it acts like posion ivy, and if you inhale it its no fun at all. probably just a rosewood though. good luck! frankie
well i got a band saw, and a table saw.....acts like poison ivy you say.. ahuuhh *shudders* dangit.......... now i don't know what to use.......
urbansmurf
cocobolo really isnt that bad just wear a resperator or a tight dust mask and long sleves, shower afterwards and after you seal it, it'll be fine, its just the dust. rosewood's prolly your best bet though ebony and purpleheart are some dense wood
