rob
I dunno what to do! that is crazy! And the price! but the peice! ohhhhh! Quote Link to comment
MKGBass
yes! Bubinga is my favorite wood of all time. Its not much for guitar usage im afraid, but on basses, it reigns king! I just bought this piece for a neckthrough im building (it doesnt quite compare, but it's still nice! [and less that 1/5th the price]) Quote Link to comment
krazyderek
very nice bubinga but both peices are to small to get the most ouf of them 12" is to narror for a one peice, and book matching will mean wasting so much of that wood since 12" is to small to rip it up the center and have 2 boars to book match. daveq
I think most solid bodies are close to 12" wide aren't they? I know the strat is huge in the hips but I thought most "modern" solid bodies ran real close to 12", no? Anyway, useful or not, that's incredible. Quote Link to comment
bigdguitars
I'd go in with someone on this piece? Rip three inches off for a set neck, then make about 8 tops... we could make it back on ebay for sure... Quote Link to comment
www
Wow! That is one beautiful piece. I'd love to buy into that one, but right now a bandsaw is more important to me. Quote Link to comment

Anyway, useful or not, that's incredible. i think it's closer to 12-1/4" to 12-3/4" finished, at least on my strat and tele, aswell as a jem, but for that figure, i suppose you could shrink the lower bout of the guitar a bit EDIT: What i mean is though, for 400$ you want a peice that is going to yeild you the best amount of tops possible without having to go dicking around with guitar shapes... Drak
It's quite amazing what a few clicks on the contrast control in any photoshop program can make wood look like. I've got some Waterfall Bubinga Veneer, I did a Vee with it, and I've posted a ton of pics of that body here, and although it is what it shows, it's just not quite as 'jump out at you' as that pic shows it to be. I think they adjusted the contrast control to make it look more appealing to sell faster. Quote Link to comment
bigdguitars
I just bought some really pieces I will be ebaying them. I will post a pic later... Did you notice the blue on the guys jeans in the background How they are bright blue even in the shawdow? Quote Link to comment
MKGBass
...they look like normal jeans to me Quote Link to comment
truerussian558
yes but jeans never light up like that in a picture, unless the colors where tweaked in order to bring out the shape in the wood, and make it more appealingto buyers Quote Link to comment
bigdguitars
ding ding ding ding we have a winner! I hate people that screw around with pictures, if I bought that piece and it was not that good lookin I would file a nast complaint. There are some good wood dealers and then there are some bad ones... Quote Link to comment
MKGBass
i still stick with the fact that i think they look like normal jeans Quote Link to comment
truerussian558
well its awlays possible he spilled some blue dye on them when painting the guitar just to compare, take a picture of your blue jeans with your camera and when the jeans are in the dark, they wontbe anywhere near that bright blue Quote Link to comment
