  1. I have what I guess is a type of round-over bit, sorry I dont know the proper name. This is a bit where the bearing on the bottom is smaller than the cutting edge above it. I was wondering if there is a safe way of enlarging the bearing so I could use it as a regular round-over bit. I seem to remember hearing some people using tape to make bearings bigger. Would that work? Thanks
  2. I'd say the one in the middle in that picture looks the lightest. Just by a bit though. It might be the pic too.
  3. I actually kind of like those burn marks on the top. It would be a cool kind of natural binding. If you havent sanded it off yet, it might look cool if you kept it. Looks great though, I didn't really feel the shape at first but once I saw the top on it, wow! Great Job!
  4. I was thinking of building one of those router jigs further down the page, probably makes a lot of waste though.
  5. Thats a great carve, what method did you use? Also what pickups are those?
  6. I didn't realize you were a member! I've seen your site before and you do amazing stuff! Congrats
  7. My friend has a CBS style Allparts maple neck for a strat but he says that he sometimes cuts his fingers on the frets and that they kind of get in the way. The frets seem to have about a 45 degree bevel, would filing down to a lower angle fix this? It might be low humidity, but would filing down the angle a small amount be a bad idea? Thanks
  8. Dude! Those are awesome! I especially like the strat. Its a swirl but its not too over the top. What hardware's goin on it?
  9. Kind of random question coming up but whatever: I noticed your fret nips. They aren't stewmac right? Are they Mastercraft? Reason I ask is that the Mastercraft ones that I've seen don't cut flush with the neck, did you do the Melvyn Hiscock thing and grind it down? PS. Great Lookin Ax!
  10. First of all I don't know much about electronics so don't be afraid to correct me about stuff. I had an idea with a friend today about pickups. Ok so, take a strat for example, with the three singlecoils. Would it be possible to, rather than having a singlecoil for 6 strings, have one for each set of three strings (E,A,D and G,B,E)? So on a strat, that would make 6 different pickups. Would it then be possible to have each "mini pickup" controlled by a mini switch to turn them on and off? So instead of having a pickup selector, have 6 mini switches. That way you could have the lower pickup of the neck pickup and the higher pickup of the bridge or middle, not to mention many other combinations. Would something like this be possible? Would it be worth it?
  11. Haha make sure your plugged into it right! I had the same problem and realized that I was just going in through the out and out through the in jack. And this was after I took it in to the store to see what was wrong with it. Embarassing to say the least haha
  12. That bridge doesnt seem to me like anything thats gonna drastically change much. I mean its got some interesting features, but I think on that site they're blowing it up a little. I mean it a lot of the "innovations" arent too new. They're more like versions of other bridges brought together. Like individual bridges, graphtech saddles and low lying bridges arent exactly new ideas. It seems Schaller may be blowing a little smoke on this one. Then again if it took this Roland Hannes guy several years he probably has something going for it. I wont be sure until I try one though, it probably is a very good bridge. It just doesnt seem as ground-breaking as they've made it out to be.
  13. Thats pretty cool. It really did make it look vintage. But for some reason I find the #2 picture SO cool haha.
  14. Yeah the name fits it well but it looks really classy. I like the strap pins too, very EVH! PS. Welcome to projectguitar!
  15. You might be able to buy mint ones at your local music store depending where you live. But green you might have to order special.
  16. I ordered some fretwire and truss rod, etc. from stewmac the other day. The fretwire I ordered says that its designed for a 0.023" fret slot. So I have to buy a dovetail or gentlemens saw for the job. I dont really want to buy stewmac's fretsaw because it seems a little overpriced and I'll have to pay shipping. I found a similar saw at Lee Valley and it says that it has a 0.014" kerf. Would that be ok even though the fretwire is designed for a slightly wider slot? Thanks
  17. Great shape! It kind of reminds me of a couple of those Washburn Paul Stanley guitars. But yours is more balanced IMO. Keep it up!
  18. I'm almost done a song on the BR600, I'm entering it in a contest but when I do I'll post a link. I think I did a pretty good job with the drum part. But really in order to really get it to interact with the song, a lot of times I find I need to make my own beats for it. Even though theres like 300 presets.
  19. I have a BR-600! Its great. I was just using it a few minutes ago. I find that when I get a riff or melody, I record it, and write it as I go, which can be a blessing as well as a pain. Sometimes when I do it like that I just get stuck half way through not knowing where to go with it. Other times though, it works well and I can try stuff that I wouldnt have in the first place. I like doin stuff with the drum machine that is on the BR. You can like write your own beats and stuff. its a good time. One time though, I was trying to load some of the songs on to the computer, and I lost like 20 songs that I had on there. It sucked big time.
  20. Wouldn't gluing your frets in make a refret near impossible though?
  21. I found this: http://www.eddievanhalen.com/evh/index.php...p;postorder=asc This guy does a really killer frankie with some eden stuff. I was surprised at how good the quality looked.
  22. I got three walnut fretboards cut today. They came out really nice. I do have a question though, with the walnut fretboard, will I have to finish it? Could I use something like Tru-Oil or Teak Oil? Thanks
  23. I heard that they dont fit Fender stuff and sometimes they're a little unreliable. But I don't know from experience so.
