  1. pretty cool there brian at these prices people can build a analog/light transmission fx loop for their pedal boards.. ie (guitar>>>wireless>>>light converter>>>fo cable>>>decoder>>>pedal board>>>>>encoder>>>fo cable>>decoder>>>>amp)
  2. on the same vein as the above topic.. but safer.. http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/vint...lt/vintvolt.htm also with the corrrect transformer and some creative switch wiring you can accomplish some great tones
  3. flower shop has similar tape arts and craft section of walmart
  4. locking hemostats you can get them at any fleamall in america for aournd 2$ at radioshack for 5$ i have that little two armed magnifying glass thing from radioshack that holds the components for you.
  5. yeah you would think that basic principles would hold true. but for some reason, which has baffled me since i tried it every multimeter stil shows 5k on pot and 1.35k across chip. don't understand why. i thought it was my mulit meter. but i got a new one and it still says same. but if get same value resistors and parrallel them i get what you said, which is what i should, hmm maybe i got a bad batch of chips.
  6. any thing over 1.35k in between pins 1 and 8 is over kill. internal resistance between those pins is 1.35k fixed resistor. you can take a 2k jpot and put a resistor in there. or just use a 1k pot using a 5k will give you nothing until you get around the 2/3 mark http://www.national.com/ds.cgi/LM/LM386.pdf 1st page half way down
  7. you can cascade two of them together. but that requires you to switch it precisely. or build complex switching systems with a pic. this is a basic lowfi mod.. i say lowfi cause it was never intended to do this, so they used the cheapestr components possible. ie ceramic caps. cheesy switches same input as output. you could remove all th ecoating on the board and find out what chip it was, but i had no luck trying to do this, as ihave little patience. however iam working on a delay/sampler/looper using old computer ram but it is stil in the air right now..
  8. the old zoom 9000s the flying wedge unit. made a nice in guitar unit.. i put mine in a yamaha 112 the control cavity was huge so i just juked it up.. best move i did on that guitar. pitch shifter dist chorus reveb flange wah delay. phaser all at my finger tips
  9. what kind of pickups do you have.. if you are under 3k then it probally doestn' have enough signal gain to drive it.. if your pickups have more output than 3k then it i will drive it enough to mild clip it at max gain settings.. of course it also depends on your input and output caps.. i use a .068uf in and a 1uf out. and mine functions perfectly well as a distoriton box and an amp.
  10. ibanez preferably .. i am rebuilding a jem style guitar.. but as long as it is a bolt on neck i am groovy..
  11. aluminum tape. theres a great spray on stuff that i am wanting to try. jack over at amz has a great tutorial on it, it has metal filings in it. http://www.muzique.com/lab/magpaint.htm
  12. hey man you can build an afterburner type circuit pretty easy. its a voltage gain of 10... i got a basic type schematic if you want
  13. i got a one chip booster, you can try, it makes a killer distortion or just a slight boost, i sell this design as it is. so i could give you a populated board to put in youguitar just not the schematic.
  14. it has enough gain for mine.. loose the cap and add a 1k pot for a better gain control the input pot is an input resisotr to keep it from overloading it with a hot signal the actual gain is in between the pins one and eight. otherwise i would try to flip the cap in the feedback loop there the polarity is backwards compared to every other schematic i have found on the net. personally if you go with the cap there you can just bridge the pins together there same effect.
  15. guess i need to get to work and send it out. then
  16. you can take the pickups and put iron ferrite on a sheet of paper and drop the pickups in it. this will let you know where the pole pieces are if they aren't already exposed on your pickups.. som pickups are sealed and have pole pieces some have barrs taht go all the way across. you would need ot see if they can line ujp.. although you can do it if they dont' you will more than likely have dead spots

  19. Well you're not gonna keep it a SECRET are you? Do share, do share! sorry i forgot to clarify, you basicaly have to expirament with different capacitors. but i got good combos of using the 1Meg pot and a huge radioshack 1mfd cap.. the big blue ones.. i couldn' get the same results from any other cap. but i used it to cut the highs. wich on an active can be high. and basically it turns down any high gain metal hard rock sound into a dusty blues sound. i then use a high bleed cap on top of it to retain a little clarity.. i will try to see if i have a scheme drawn up for it. it was one of those off the wall lets try this, back before i knew the freq formula for calcluating roll off freq. bascially at 100 ohms resistance it drops your highs to 1.5924khz at 1k resistance it is down to 159.24hz so i never really took it lower than a little over half. after 2.2k of resistance it acts like a gain control cause it is already a lowpass filter lower than the guitars freq rangewhich there for it acts like a gain knob
  20. actualy the way that hetfield of metallica gets his in according to emg they say its a jazz players dream but then again i guess its all how you use it. personaly my ibanez would do spankin clean country, or screaming metal. deep blues. (thanks to the capacitor/gain knob trick i learned) and pretty much anything in between. but i guess it all depends on the set up too. i was using an old ampeg for a my power amp to push my cabs. i burned the body cuase the wood was still "wet" replaced the bridge with an original floyd rose solid brass deal.. the one without fine tuners.. and used 14's on it. with an undwound G string. semi scalloped fretboard.

so do you need a scheme or not???
  22. actually you can use 1Meg pots with actives it makes a nice tone in deed. something i did on my old 81/X2N IBANEZ. they don't recomend it. but it realy makes the pickups sing imho
  23. since its pretty evenly divided what info does everyone need on there. since 40% need more info basically its a little kit with a speaker that dubs a microphone it has atransistor buffer. and is about an inch long and a half inch wide. runs off a nine volt. cost 10$ at radioshack. can easily be mounted ina guitar. has 0-20 seconds of storing in 128k ram
  24. true you don't have to open it but it does the same thing
