  1. http://easydwg.com/ program that converts .dwg and .dxf to any image format as for a cad program www.guitarbuild.com has several plans. and 2 free cad programs (in the download section) also if you sign up for MIMF in their plans section (in the library), they have a page that discusses several different fre or shareware cad programs. (with links)
  2. thankls man, it goes on my exceptionally large drawing board. thanks for doing the work! also i found a program to convert .dxf and .dwg to any image format http://easydwg.com/ its shareware, but its only limitation is taht it can only convert 3 files at one time, but i dont htinks thats too big of a limitation
  3. www.fullservesite.com its a website set up by one of the memers here, and gives free hosting of files (pictures sounds or anything) . when you sign up (the button is on the left of the ad layden main page), and host a file make sure you erase the bit that says ... /members/... from the url when linking instead of www.fullservesite.com/members/yourname/image.jpg its www.fullservesite.com/yourname/image.jpg
  4. actually its called an artificial harmonic, natural is only open strings, but i didnt realize they where different from pinch harmonics (learn something new everday ) just listen to a recording of scarborough fair, there is a art. harmonic bit, sounds quite nice (its supposed to represent the falling of the rain)
  5. what? i cant see how much of a difference it would make if the power to drive a speaker came from a tube or a transitor unless of course other specifications (besides power) are different., if not please enlighten me also i would think about going solid state, not only is it quite unusuall to find a 400watt tube bass head, it will be overly expensive (the tubes would be much over $100 and maybe over $200) unless you have tubes scavengeed from some old radio or something. and you will lose the risk of getting hit with lethal voltages. its a pity my grandpa threw out a crate of old tubes, i could have used them
  6. i remeber there was a link to a female luthiers site and she ahd made 1 or 2 acoustic (i think, but might have been electric) guitars out of redwood. and it had pictures and a review of the wood.
  7. easiest and most corret way ios too not use a pick, take your index finger and place it above the fret (lightly) that the harmonic is on (fretted note+12 (or 5 or 7 or 17 or 19)) and then bend your middle finger back, and then at the same time you pluck with your middle finger you raise your index finger (at the same time),
  8. tube amps. hmm here for marshal diagrams (in the nav bar on the left) as well as tube datasheets and schems for other amps/companies fender amp fieldguide has lots of schematics as well chasis diagrams and specs/pictures of a lot of fender amps as well as here for fender amp schems (a lot of them, but not too many bass ones) and finally here for tube datasheets (tons of them), maybe you should read up on tubes, i got my basic (very) knowledge of amps and tubes from my grandpa over the summer, also unlike guitar schematics, just wiring plans for amps are rare (most likely non exsistant), since they are all writen in schematic form, so learning to read schematics will help,
  9. In my opinion its just silly, usually what happens is that i post in one thread and move on over to the next to post in the other thread. The original 30 second was way too much as i usually lose my thought if i have to wait too long before i can write it down, but the 3 minute flood limit is just out there, actually in my opinion they should change it so that you have to wait the flood time to actually post what you want not wait 3 minutes to just get to the post writing page, as you should be able to write it down and have the 3 minutes so that you can think about what your posting Opinions/rants/flames/and explaination
  10. lol drak, its pinned on the top of the page in this forum http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=220
  11. that guitar/bass making book, is short but sweet, in my oppinion its not bery technicall or descriptive, but it has lots of great pictures, that show the procces well, unlike hiscocks book its more of a pictorial of building a solid body guitar and bass, but as i said, verry short on the details, and detailed expleanation of every stage in building, and its a pretty short book bottom line, if you have the choice get hiscocks book. on the other hand i just borrowed the book Electric guitars - The illustrated encyclopedia from the library, pretty good book with pictures and dexcriptions of TONS of different guitars (only electric+ some archtops), in other words, great overall eletric guitar book. and i also have qa hold on a spanish guitar making book (making classical guitars), and will tell the title and my review once i get it.
  12. he explains it earlier... read people, read! and he answered litch's question earlier too.
  13. there is of course the possibility that your pickup is dyeing, since there isnt much a switch could do to screw with the volume. al;so a possibility is since the bridge and middle pup are the ones genrally conected through the tone pot, it could be a worn potentiometer,
  14. Good stuff, in the future i would seriously give your line a look when i go looking for a new guitar hell i would even recomend it, seeing some of the work you have done i know it would be a class act. once again, excelent work,
  15. the starcaster is on my long to make list as of now, and it ahs been for a while (ever since i saw it) so is there anyway to get a hold of some wildwood?
  16. i remember seeing a wildwood starcaster in an electric guitar book though my memory is fuzy and it was on the same page as the colonado so the starcaster might have been just natural wood
  17. turbocad is quite easy to figure out, and quite easy to use once you get the hang of it. i would use turbocad mainly becasue it can save in anyof the popular cad formats .dxf .dwf wheras turbodraw uses its own format. remember turbocad uses straight lines and angles, its quite easy to get your neck planed out perfectly, and get all the major measurments exact, but drawing curves take some tinkering as turbocad only haze bezier curves which take some tinkering to get a shape that you want also not to rude, but mods can you check his i.p. i have a very odd feeling that this is camcool using a different username, the username especially tipped me off.
  18. yeh and the better ones used wildwood, which was a technique that fender used, by injecting stains/toxins into the growing wood, that colored the wood and made it have different colored stripes it was supposed to be they're delve into the jazzz market, but it never had much appeal
  19. ive found gripper (t style) strap buttons to be pretty good, i dont think this strap is comming of it anytime soon.
  20. that looks utterly beautifull. i wonder where they get their wood. is it just me or does the ceotch on the walnut one look like an arrowhead
  21. i did a polyeurythane on my project, and it really is a pain to work with (at least for me), i applied it with a brush (the plan was to brush on the clear, and then stain it a little bit so that it makes the gold kinda brownish), and then appoly with a rag, in the end it screwed up, the stain just kinda floated around on the guitar and didnt dry while the laquer dried, and i basically washed off the stain, even worse the places where i sanded a bit to make it smooth apperently got under the clear, and stained the gold. total mess up. in the end though I went and got some duplicolor gold and painted over the orignal gold, then i painted with this kinda brownish gold that when i sprayed it on, gave it a really nice brownish gold (call it goldenrod ) look (instead of a cheap toy look) and then used shelac. it really is pretty good (im still not done though) shelac was a breeze compared to the poly.
  22. or you can have them delete threads older then say 5 days or 7 days, almost every forum i do does this for the test forum
  23. click back go down one thread, should have posted there
  24. and also the sound doesnt go through the pot at all or at least not to the output, through some mystical electronics power, it actually makes the circuit think that the cap parallel to the inductor changes its value, and thus changes the resonant frequency, and in turn changes the frequency which is boosted, and whgen you turn the pot back and forth different frequencies are boosted (standard inductor wah from 600hz to a bit over 1khz), and gives the wah effect,
