  1. I think Fender started the cloneing thing ,too.....I am of the mind that if it is not the orignal I don't want it.A copy is just a copy.
  2. Thats not a guitar tool concept. It's a S& M toy for your special man or women. It was probably posted in a guitar section by accident.
  3. Sometimes a good cleaning and polishing does a world of good,I would start there. If it is a vintage guitar you do not want to do to much to it.Wear on a old guitar is expected and is of value. Please do some research before doing anything, making it pretty could rune it.Post a picture if you can,and you mite get better info.
  4. Rich, that is one sweet guitar.I know mom will love it.One day I mite try to build a acoustic,I have a billit of spuce just waiting to be used.Your bracing is cool and I like the way it covers all areas, really solid.Looking forward to seeing your bridge system.I think you've done this for a little while.
  5. That guitar is really cool. The cause and build are very special indeed !!!!!
  6. On the home page there is a green donate button ,just click on it and donate.
  7. I agree with Rick500 ...I call things like that birth marks....gives them life like a child.
  8. My wife is a cancer survivor too,and I think what you are doing is just great. The guitar is looking good.I hope you make a ton of money on it.My wife got cancer at the same time I broke my neck,it really changes your life.We are giving people before it happened ,but after now we can feel their pain.I just wish you the best and long life. For anyone out there who has a lot of drama in your life....you only get one chance at life ,make the best of it.Play nice but don't get played.Ok I'am done ,forgive the preaching.
  9. I am liking this advice very much....and will probably be the way I go if I do the build.Weaponepsilon YOU ARE RIGHT IT DOES GET IN YOUR BLOOD and sometime I get my blood on it.I am way harder on myself then anyone else will ever be,that's a big reason I really want to think about this before I descide.I do have backup as my friend is a great builder and would help me if I got in a bind.(and yes he would be paid for his help) I do not use people even friends. Thanks to everyone for your input, keep it coming.
  10. Her husband would be totally a part of the build. She told me she would give him the money and have him pick out what he wants.I know this sounds a little strange, she whated this to be a Chrismas present for him.I am hearing everyone, but Iam just trying to make up my mind if I want to do this or not .Believe me I know how personal a guitar is,and that is why I am having a hard time with this.I probably will not do it ,but never say never.

  12. That is why I tried to point her to a real luthier that has done alot of work for me and gave me the confidence to do it in the first place. She's not flirting with me,she saw my first build and sees the progress of my build now and likes both...but my buddy could do a way better job then me and he does it for a living.I would alway send someone to him first....but she wants me to do it.I told her everything I have stated here, and I told her it is cheaper to buy one new then have me make it.I mite be willing to do it for cost of parts, just for the practice. Not sure yet.
  13. I set in my garage/work shop and work on my guitar build.People stop by and talk and look at my progress. So here is my Question. This is only my second build and this lady wanted to know if I would build her husband a strat.I told her that I did not feel good enough to build for money, and told her I had a guy that could do it .She said she wanted me to do it and watch the progress.I told her I would let her know. What do you guys/girls think?I was thinking I would have her buy the hardware and all and do the labor for free, get more practice.Let me know what you think or any experinces you have had. Thanks Ron
  14. Thanks ,by your pic's it looks like they are the same.....that stuff has a lot going for it.

  17. I know your doing the best you can ,third time and all.....and it is in the right direction, but it is not snakeskin in the truest since. It needs more shades and shapes.having said that if the buyer is happy thats all that matters.I think it is a good first go at a snake paint job.I give you a A+ for your effort.
  18. I really like your design.....very cool!!!!!
  19. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff185/r...er/PA310666.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff185/r...er/PA300660.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff185/r...er/PA300663.jpg A little progress...shapeing and lamate
  20. I really like your shaping....the lines are really cool....but that is one big hunk of wood, could you post the weight when finished.
  21. Hey Drak I know you just like stiring the pot...but this is a little overboard. It was not so much the burning of the guitars but the fact you burnt the hardware too. This guy probably has a very limited buget and can not even get why someone would do that.To be honest I don't really eather. If your not careful you mite get your name spelled with an ic in the middle.Calling someone out on the internet is kind of like running naked thru the streets at 3 am in the morning in the middle of nowhere. You seem like a cool guy .but if you keep this up ,no one will take you serious.
  22. Wood of any kind has become a buyer beware......I found a good middle of the road honest supplier with normal prices and desent wood.I tell him what I am looking for and he does a good job supplying it.He does not carry the 5A stuff because he thinks like I do that it is just to over priced.
  23. Whats the best glue to glue it to the neck? I use Titebond Original wood glue....you will only need a drop, as the strings hold it in place Also is there a specific depth or height? The radius of the frets set height......take a number 2 pencil and cut or sand it in half so it covers three frets, put your nut blank in place and mark it by sliding the pencil back and forth across the frets..leaving a line on the nut. That is your radius and close highth.mark the sides ,too. Then go from there roughing and cutting the nut.
  24. Do you want it to look something like this.....I like snake ,Too I matched the gutair ,amp, case, and strap......I know you want to use fishnet stocking ,then layer the paint light to dark.can't wait to see how it turns out.
  25. you can go to this site http://www.siegmundguitars.com/outcaster.html he can make you anything you what.Very easy to talk to and does great work.I bought his prototype muddy buddy 1 watt amp.It is really cool and can be used for a lot of things.
