  1. no. Its not going to be balanced. But when is a neck ever as loud as a bridge pickup?
  2. CRXD does not realize that he is speaking spanish to the newb.
  3. I have a 30 watt iron, thats not too big is it? I think it would be fine if I just had a better tip and the solder is .050 diameter rosin core. It may be to big. The biggest trouble I have is that the solder doesn't "flow". It runs and collects into a bubble at the end of the soldering iron I think I tinned the end properly Thanks. I will try and get a smaller tip and some small solder. OH, and another thing. I'm trying to make a Piezo Pickup, with piezo disks. Yesterday, I had a small piezo (a bit smaller than a dime, like, 1 cm in diameter) It worked, but was very very faint. I had to crank the little practice amp up pretty high. 1. Does it work for both electric and acoustic? 2. How delecate are they? (i think I ruined mine) 3. If you put it down on the side with the ceramic surface, will it not work? (will the crystal not vibrate if your fat finger is mashing it?) 4. Bigger Piezo = higher output? 5. 2 Piezos = higher output? Thank you for all those who have helped me.
  4. Well, its not really a lack of skill. Its like trying to write your name with lamb chop. How do you get a glob of solder the diameter of a paper clip onto a tiny wire? I can get these things to work, but then they fall apart.
  5. Yay! a positive response! not somebody telling me to "search" Maybe its because Im using an old pencil tip soldering tip on a 1 cm piezo.
  6. Okay. I am trying to make a piezo pickup. I have also tried making a preamp. But I cant! Everything falls apart! nothing will stay soldered. I have ruined my piezo from soldering and ripping the solder off too many times. I need help. How on earth do you solder little things? Can you give me some tips?
  7. It has been found. Look at Ansul's "Experimental Pickup" thread
  8. Yeah. I dont know if it will "blend" or just cut off when the signal hits or what.
  9. From what I hear, its noisy.
  10. 1. I like pedals 2. I must have a tone, cant be left with my cheese in the wind 3. Used to have that on my Peavey Predator, before it got an Air Norton and a FRED. I got a DP3T middle off switch, wired a .01 cap to one side, and a .22uf cap to the other, for a 2 flavor tone switch, middle tone off. That was my crazy idea. But Im sure its been done. But I thought of it all by myself! :retard smiley:
  11. You could just use 9v battery clips, just clip em together.
  12. Lace Sensors are passive, im fairly sure.
  13. That stuff sucks, i use HONEY
  14. The right side of the brain also controls your left arm and left leg. For a right handed person, Left arm = fretting hand (does all the dirty work)
  15. oh, and how is the pickup oriented? All that stuff is on a PC board, right? how big is it?
  16. I'll try it. how is it supposed to be/sound different with a horizantal magnetic field? I live in Dallas, Texas.
  17. Is the sustainer Pushing AND Pulling the string up and down, or does it pull it down and let it go?
  18. You goofed somewhere. Its simple as that. Re-check your wiring again.
  19. well, the Pearly Gates isn't much of a squealer, it has a deliberate low output to better match volumes with single coils. The Custom Custom, however, is modeled after the pickup Eddie Van Halen handwound himself. I'm thinking that is the root of the problem. I also believe that 500K pots would help, especially if your using humbuckers.
  20. If your homeless, how are you using the computer? You should try making some threads at www.harmonycentral.com and www.musicianforums.com they're both heavily populated.
  21. hmm. Its supposed to be Fixed Bias.
