  1. next time i restring it im gonna try that. do you think people with think i'm some sort of copycat?? do you know of any others who have done this before???
  2. no site, that i know of. It's just a local little place. Yeah just keep looking around, and you'll find some.....
  3. PLAYING GUTIARS since he was born......
  4. I was watching how the west was won, and i started crying (yes i'm a pansie) when he was doing his violion (can't spell wortha crap) solo on dazed and confused. that guy sure knows what he's doin. Anyway, do you guys know why he strung his guitar like he did?? You know over the tailpiece then back around. Did he have to like lower his tailpiece or anything to do that???? oh yeah rape me by nirvana is pretty cool too..
  5. Oklahoma........The trick is don't buy it from places that charge alot of money (ahahahhaha). but seriously, don't buy it from like a guitar wood cutter. just go get the lumber. ahhh it's hard to explain, just wood isn't that expensive if you look in the right places. like lumber yards and stuff
  6. really?? is that cheap?? it's just like one long board, that i'm gonna cut in half then glue together... How much does black limba usually go for??
  7. yeah, but black limba isn't very expensive. I can get some under $30, for a blank. I guess i'd just use whatever i have to carve the top. spokeshave maybe some chizels....
  8. Since this is my first build, and i already have a les paul for the measurements, i'm gonna go with a les paul. I think I want a black archtop, with nickel hardware, and white binding and pickguard and all that. Since it's and archtop, do you think I should just get a thicker piece of black limba on it, and carve down, or put a top on then carve. I don't care about the wood grain(like flamed or quilted) because it's gonna be solid black. And anything else i should take into consideration before I start. Thanks
  9. strats aren't made out of mahogany...................................... some ash some alder, a few poplar.......... yeah and if you dont like strat headstocks, then you can design your own or use on you like, that's the beauty of building your own guitar...
  10. yeah he's right 100 watts is twice as loud as 10 watts. with amps it's kinda like the metric system. 500 is twice as loud as 50......i have a 50 fender princeton chorus that i use and it works VERY well, it can stand up to the drums and rhythm guitar players amp well. so like 50 would be fine for your cousin probably
  11. I know what you're saying... Veneer only serves the purpose of looks (like wood really thin 1/15 or 20") A top, or cap, like 3/8 or 1/4" thick serves the purposes of tone and looks. If you used pickguard material as veneer, (really thin) then I don't see anything wrong with that, except it might kill your tone a little. That's just my opinion...
  12. i got my first guitar at 7, but didn't really learn how to play until i was 13..
  13. some make it out of 3. i think i've heard of somebody whos guitar had like 8 pieces......
  14. oh somebody up there was talking about stellar guitars. you might wanna check it out. http://www.guitarists.net/forum/view.php/2...ar_guitar?.html it doesn't have any replies, but you guys might be able to help each other out...

  16. lol, i loved the dancing banana. my avatar sucks i want a cool moving one..........
  17. carvin makes some of the best guitars around, and like 75& of their guitars are neck thru, and you can buy the option like 3 or 5 piece laminate neck. If they do it i think it's safe. That's what i'm gonna do maple/black limba/maple neck thru...
  18. good god, you should be ashamed of yourself. jk, nice work man
