  1. i cannot find a 12 ohm 2 Watt resistor unless i move a long way away. i was wondering if i could use a 10 ohm or 15 ohm wich i have laying around here the resistor is placed in the power supply of the mc tubes II pedal i'm building, european version, just after the first bridge rectifier, it's used to heat the valves. also could i have an explanation of what changing the value makes, cos i remember studying V=R·I but i forgot how this is applied, mine was a fairly light digital electronics knowledge. i've tried simulating a circuit in electronics workbench just to avoid having to ask, but i must be useless i have all the components except for that resistance, and i'm sooooo willing to wire it all up and see how it sounds
  2. you mean the input and output of the channel i´m not using ,right? yeah, the cab sim is a much better idea, also to be able to switch between two or three, the question was just to have an idea of the output level of the signal, but it would be interesting to have an output without simulation just in case i want to plug into a separate power amp.
  3. i meant to build one from. like taking the preamp from the Vox berkley and build a 150 V power supply and take the output. what should i expect the output to be, in easy terms, could i just plug it into a mixer or a cab sim for example. if i want to add another channel and switch between both, what do i have to be aware of? i hope i'm not going far too ahead my possibilities as my knowledge in electronics is limited
  4. just wondering while i was looking at some amp schematics if you can separate the preamp from the power amp. i mean, there are many that only share the output from the preamp(input to the preamp), ground and power supply. so, if i wanted to separate the preamp, would it work if i just took away the power amp section. i suppose there would be mods to do in the power supply. i don´t know if i've got across. is this possible, i suppose, if so how complicated??
  5. the explanation is definitely THAT is ALIEN TECHNOLOGY. i wonder what would happen if you applied that to a tube, would it sound twice like a tube?
  6. i´m in loveeeeeeeeeee.... just awesome, i don't like strats because of the rounded sides, but somehow i love the squares like this.
  7. probably the pic compression or the light with wich it was taken.
  8. i love the headstock design, and the heel also. nice looking basssssssss
  9. i don't think so, the ones i've played seemed to have a wider neck. but could be just the guitar itself and not the fact being a 12.
  10. great looking, i do like the neck shape, but i think darker would look better. it's a beautiful axe, it
  11. i'm sure they are not carbon composition so i'll just go ahead with this, i've just transfered the image to the board, but some points have spots. i'll finish it as soon as i get a new marker, the one i had lying around has the point too thick.
  12. how do you tell the difference, if there is any, by looking at carbon film resistors and metal film resistors. i've read to use metal film resistors in my building of this. would it sound bad, or just worse? maybe it's a good idea to go with the ones i've got (i ignore the type) for a first build. what is more likely to be sold to an ignorant in an electronic's shop? ... jesus
  13. i dunno wether that guy puts me off or just makes me wanna get into these even more
  14. i understand now, i should read more carefully. how do the output signal levels vary due to the voltage? maybe they seem really newbie questions, but that's what i am. i'm glad you answer my questions, but somehow feel like wasting your time, is there any reading you can tell where all this has been explained before... that should save you time and thanx
  15. lol ... i'm not english, sorry about the spelling , maybe i need some more english got to admit it was a funny joke
  16. so if i understand correctly lowering the voltage makes a cleaner sound??
  17. i was just looking to the lap steel guitars and realiced how ugly they all are, they seem to be just practical. i pretend to build one when i finish my exams, any ideas about a nice shape?
  18. MadAmp is a great page, i had already set my eye on the ax84 page, and now i'll be building one for sure with one of the kits, i'll just wait to see how the real mctube comes out anyway. thanx for the link.
  19. i've red the hole thing and understand nothing of what you say when you speak about electronics ansil... ... i did know i was not very clever, but that really makes me feel like a complete ignorant in the matter. Anyway i'll try to build the real mc tube. how much do you think it would cost to send one of those kits all the way over the ocean to europe??? the only kits i see round here cost like 450 $ for a champ.
  20. dude, i remember seeing a film in which they traded a really old red violin which was painted with the blood from the luthier's lover. about the decoloration of the blood, could it make a difference if it was mixed with some kind of spirit, like the ones used to put reptiles in jars? i'll try to look for the name of the film.
  21. that could be the sexiest f hole i've seen so far.... really like the guitar, the neck joint i'd never seen like that before.
  22. ok, this is something i've come up with, but i'm unable to try.... u remember de sustainer mod right? if you connect the circuit to the piezo attached to the bridge... is that a fine idea for a sustainer???? right now i think is a genius idea, please, make me see.... XD
  23. in uk you can buy from pincotts as they sell allparts catalogue and there there are bigsbys, also you can purchase from rockinger
  24. what is the intention of the sustainer, is it to feedback the signal of the strings back to it to make it vibrate longer?? i just want some fancy theory some post here every now and then
