  1. These are some major modifications, surely the price would not be far off a full build from you? It would seem easier to just build a guitar from scratch, then you have no problems with the logo and if there is a chance of it being seen at gigs with big names at then you could even take a bit of a hit on the price for some publicity. and why did that guy buy a signature guitar and then have it heavily customised...
  2. Correction, it's only worth what two people will pay for it, because then you can start a bidding war
  3. Got any more photos? This thing is amazing!
  4. Have you tried Humbrol paints? Is there a particular reason why one shot is better than other paints? I have been trying to get the technique down with Humbrol paints and cant quite get it (I could always send it to you to do )
  5. If you are going for commercial appeal, would it not be better with a neck pup as well?
  6. Anyway, will all the videos be hosted on youtube? Are the only vids available those uploaded by members or can we recommend other videos we have found on youtube that are really useful?
  7. Not sure it would work, the first colour tends to spread out and wouldn't produce the swirl pattern like you get with multiple colours. If you have a spray gun you could use a colour for the base coat and then use that exact colour as one of swirl colours, so it swirls with another colour but over a base coat of the same colour, not sure if it would blend seamlessly with the base coat but worth a try.
  8. The guitar is getting SD pups which I have, but I was just trying to make the cover big enough for dimarzios and emgs incase I change it.
  9. Hey, Could someone measure the dimensions of a standard 6 string dimarzio humbucker, I found on a SD pup I was measuring the tape and wire wraps bulge out further than the base plate so on dimensions A and B could you measure it at its widest point (I'm making a pup cover so it needs to fit over and I'm just trying to get an idea of clearance). Cheers
  10. Looks great, whats with the crazy chambering?
  11. Measure the thread on the screws you are using at their widest point and round up to the next nearest drill size.
  12. Hey, Say if you were to fill a chip with some lacquer, you have to sand it flush with the rest of the finish but to do so you would have to use a heavy grit which would scratch the surrounding buffed finish. To smooth out these new scratches you have to sand a bit wider with a finer grit, so does it just go on like that, wider and wider until you get to a grit fine enough that it all blends in? Cheers
  13. Where does it say diagonally? The truss rod is offset from centre, and presumably, runs parallel to centre. Also Ibanez have used 1 truss rod since the RG2228 came out, so if its good enough for them.
  14. Build looks great! Whats the quality of the tuners? You shouldnt use them backwards the string tension pulls the post away from the gear...
  15. I think the quote thing is that all quotes before the update are now broken.
  16. On the old forums if you were in a thread and you clicked on a persons name a drop down list appeared and you could choose to view every thread they have ever made, very useful when you can remember a tutorial was written by someone but you cant actually find it, now it doesnt look as though you can do that, you just get a list of their most recent threads, if you can change that back to the old way please do.
  17. That jack plate, and the rest of the build looks fantastic!
  18. Is there enough room to recess the cavity plate and there for route away most of the chip out?
  19. Looks great, would love to be able to mill custom bridges. Why do the groves for the tuners thin out on the middle strings?
  20. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of hollowing out most of the body but having a normal TOM bridge and so there will be a block there, what kinda thickness should I aim for to get a resonant top (without bracing). Also I assume if I'm aiming for a resonant top its a good idea to leave a block under each pup to stop feedback? Cheers
  21. Hey, so some semi hollow bodies just have thick tops with no bracing, and acoustic guitars with like 1/8" or less thick tops require bracing. So at what point do you need to add bracing to a guitar top to maintain structural integrity? and at what thickness do tops start to become resonant for use in semi/hollow/acoustic guitars? Cheers Neil
