  1. soloette Ive always liked these as travel gutiars.
  2. You might be able to find a mesa subway series in the 400 range. They are great amps, all tube and all mesa.
  3. On my weekly pawnshop excursion picked one up and ts-9 and a boss bf-2. The ts-9 is a keeper, but i cant find any info on the sm-9 "Super Metal" other than a few closed ebay auctions and a few "vintage" sites wanting $200 for them. Any one have any info?
  4. Despite scotts protests the trem is gone. It is bridge/neck blaze set. Dont worry scott the body will get done.
  5. Jeremy, Is she the one they did the movie about on the disney chanel? It looks great. Have you looked into doing RC car bodies at all, people pay crazy money for them.
  6. Thanks Jeremy. There is some color in the dent so I can at least see some of the base. Ive been trying to match it to house paint colors to get close when i look in stores. Im probably gonna buy a few colors and go with the closest. Im hoping the glitter will cover any slight mismatch. So are you saying to do it in layers like frank said? Only using Epoxy rather than ca?
  7. parker fan? looks great. I love the look/feel playability of my parker.
  8. The other shops in Las Vegas love him. According to 2 unamed vintage shop owners he sends lots of angry customers thier way. They also love to tell people that they're not interested in second hand quicksilvers....
  9. Since it sounds like your gonna end up painting it solid use a filler like bondo.
  10. It would be cool if you change string gauges alot or tunings.
  11. If the wirings a mess that could be part of the problem. Posting the dimarzio model numbers will also incrase the chances of helpful advice.
  12. Where are you at in chicago? I dont live there anymore, viva las vegas, but could recomend some places i used to dig. If I can make it Minstrel Music in Niles will be part of my visit home in May. Extremely cool people. I think at least one forum member works in a chitown-area store.
  13. Reports around here are also that using the brass inserts on your bolt on helps sustain, right?
  14. Direct from the Ed Roman site: Have a monster truck with maple treads drive over your guitar. Its an expensive and time consuming process used by few manufacturers. In fact the original monster truck driver finds it not worth his time so you will have to get one of the few ed has remaining in stock.
  15. Its a low trs trem. I think you could get a brand new assembled Rg for that price, or a few bucks more.
  16. Tacoma would be my bang for the buck suggestion. A word of caution both Sam Ash and GC are allegd to sell factory seconds, defects, etc... I know that the 2 by me here in vegas dont set up anything or quality check it at all. If you don't know what you are doing it would be easy to buy a bad or damaged guitar there. I've seen many hanging on the walls. They are your music store equal to walmart. Find someone who knows what they are doing to go with you. Small shops may also have the same problems, ask around about reputation and return policy. I rented my first guitar, it was a way better deal they restrung etc... It wasn't too expensive and when i bought a couple months later i had at least a little idea what i liked. Couple of things that may help: Post your budget. Post your location.(city state, country) Chances are if a member lives near you they're dying for an excuse to go to a guitar shop. Its a disease known as Gear Acquisition Syndrome, if you didnt have it you probably wouldnt be here.
  17. Humbrol paints are at hobby shops, in the section where the geeks get paint for thier d&d figures. I also had some luck with pactra's oil based paints.(see prior thread) I tried some rustoleum and found it too thick, geting the chemical to slow cure time is my next step.
  18. From what i can tell I might be best looking into supplies for making your own fishing lures. They sell small amounts of holgraphic glitter, some premixed in clears. Now to find a base.
  19. Sorry scott, too many projects and too much day job. I've just run into a wall time and money wise. Add to that being married and having my band gig once or twice a week and argh.... I left last nights gig at 1:30am and got to work at 6am... Im still gonna use the body for refinishing work. Actually im sleepy and dont know what im doing...
  20. With most multi units this is there to some degree. The noticibility of it varies from unit to unit.
  21. The coolest integrated effect ive heard of is the Z-Vex gutiar with a probe built in so the wah can follow you strumming. They're rare and expensive but i dig the idea.
  22. For a first try use the free ply to build your skills. Also thump on it and see how it resonates this will give you a small hint as to its future. Ive had some ply guitars I liked for the "non-traditional" tone, not the first guitar to reach for but definitley a different option.
  23. I think your warmoth specs are fine, they are expensive but you definitley get guaranteed quality. The also offer corian nuts that i have on a couple of necks and really dig.
