  1. ive been planning a soloette copy since i went ten days without an axe on vacation
  2. once i get my bsb conversion back im going to start doing some work to my desert yellow rg. its pretty nicked and banged up. i just got a new trem for it(thanks scott). i'm debating a jem conversion but think its going to remain an rg.(may try a vine though) anyone know the exact color/brand to get the original color restored? is it possible to effectivly fill and recolor large nicks? it is getting a metalic purple ibanez pickguard. otherwise it may become a dy based swirl.(yellow black green) thoughts comments analysis?
  3. what about a nice blue inlay. create some contrast etc...
  4. If its not shiny it could be a satin finish. Actually what i prefer not so sticky. Remeber an acoustic guitar especially the top is a speaker! Changing the way the top moves will effect tone volume sustain etc.. If you can check out "Guitar Making Tradition and Technology by Cumpuzano/Natelson" borders or barnes and noble should have it.
  5. got it last night.(amazingly quick for the postal disservice) thanks scott. anyone looking to buy from scott has no worries.
  6. my local shop cowtown guitars has one that was owned by paul gilbert. paul has a ton of stuff up there on consignment right now.
  7. got a pair ive had for a while. i just finished reassembling the guitar they're for and will rewire soon to let you know.
  8. very parkerish. speaking of people who push the envelope.
  9. the end is comming i agree with wes. seriously i had a freind that added one to a les paul. i believe he called it a sustainetcomy.
  10. why the 2 purple lines by the neck joint? it looks great! guess i need to plan on a different guitar for the gig friday huh?
  11. looks like the older epiphone i think they were called rebels. gibson made some too. i always thought they were cool
  12. being in the process of finishing a 14 track demo. ive played a bit with this stuff. heres my offical view. going direct can yeild acceptable results if you really know your board, eq, etc... otherwise its a pain. even the direct out of my mesa would have taken alot of post work to get me happy. there is something magic about speakers interacting with air. if your not getting results with a 57 theres something weak in your chain. what my band found is the need for goog mike pre's(presonus bluetube or dbx) Behringer just came out with a tube pre for $39. also used a sennhieser little square mike i borowed from a freind. also what are you recording to, disk, tape, etc... if your recording to disk you really need a good sound card to get results.
  13. keep in mind on pages sound: 1. if you listening to the studio recordings it wasnt all les pauls and sgs. Not a page expert but i know theres tele's and danelectros in there as well. 2. his studio sound was a lot to do with small amps cranked up you can generally get close to his tone with his wiring.
  14. theres nothing like a great piece of ash...
  15. maybe that clip should be called..... needle in a haystack
  16. cd player how low tech... i mostly listen to an Archos Jukebox (20 gigs of mp3's) top of the list currently: Blood Sugar Sex Magix Audioslave Apettite for Destruction Superunknown Automatic for the People
  17. i think its essentially an onboard preamp for passive pickups. it wouldnt work with active emg's but it might give you the headphone signal your looking for.
  18. when a friends wife asked how many guitars he needed, he just asked how many shoes she needed. end of discussion
  19. If your moding a guitar to make it active id route in the battery boxes like Parker and many others use. Takes 30 seconds to change a batter 20 of which are spent opening the package. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p...tery_Boxes.html
