  1. well no, but have you ever compleatly laughed your ass of almost everyday on a truly professional site? make seperate search functions for the vew new posts, so that you dont run into the rants when you are looking at serious stuff. if its possible? The rant section is a lot of fun, so what if some people dont think its 'professional' back in the day, people didnt think long hair was professional. look at half our mods now. were just ahead of the times (my god, can you imagin what the future will be like)
  2. there is acutally somthing on the web devoted to making sure guitar players and bass players dont get carpol tunnel (major sp?) but somthing that does help arthritis is to eat 3 gin soaked rasins everyday. Get some of the golden rasins, soak them in a jar of gin for 2 weeks, then start eating 3 a day. It really helps my parents.
  3. I use the bookmark, mainly because you have to shift thru about 3 or 4 pages to get to the fourms from the main site, but its not a big deal, if you want us to use main site, its only about an extra 15 seconds out of my (un-valuable) time.
  4. Yeah, i got one of thoes blanks, and i was very happy with it! Great wood, and ill probley be using bocote again in future projects. Its very dense, but not to hard to work. And it smells very good when its burned (as i learned in one of my router accidents)
  5. Maybe the rant section should only be avalabile to advanced supporters, rake in some cash, and the people whome would maybe leave because of seeing that the first time they sign in, would get more of a feel for the rest of the site before they see it.
  6. hahah, nice poll! i think its a combanation of all of the options, so ill stay out of this one. PS ken is totally down with the women
  7. definatly!! an acustic guitar is a "horse of another colour". (as so elequently put in the wizzard of oz) gosh, i cant wait for the day somone on here attempts a stand up acustic bass.
  8. WOW, thanks for all the info guys. Ill be a busy beaver tonight!
  9. The old portercable I have is about 6 years old, and survived 2 a flood, and an old folks home (for 3 years). So im pritty convienced that portercable makes great routers. the one i got from sears is great, does everything i need it to, and it was nice and cheap.
  10. yah, the last band i was in, the drummer decided to kick me out (with out consulting ANY of the other members) and he told me that they wanted to go a different direction (the way of shawty hair metel) so I asked the other members and they got real pissed off at the drummer, but by that point I was just tired of being in a band with a bunch of dumbasses, so I left.. they compleaty broke up 4 days later.
  11. cam, dont be a baby about all this, litch is right. you can get measurments of most guitars off of manufactorers sites, but rare ones would be nice to have measurments on. and its nice that you pointed this out, but most people already know this. and dont hide behind a moderator, you sound like an ignorant little 8 year old.
  12. Anyone here ever build a faned fret neck? Ive heard they are much more comfortable to play, and they dont seem like a whole lot of extra work. but my main question is on intonation, forsomthing like that how do you calculate the bridge position? measure the scale length from the nut like you would normaly do, and just kinnda give the bridge an according tilt. im thinkin of doing this on my bass to be. does it seem a little hard for a first time fret job?
  13. bah, give it a rest.. this is the stuff brian was talking about altho, i did get a nice long laugh out of this thread heheh
  14. well, im in favor of the '(re)voloution' i think some people are worried that this will turn into a MIMF, where you REALLY have to watch what you say. that sysops a tough one... but i doubt that will happen
  15. Have a look around on this site http://westpennhardwoods.com/common/item.php?id=90 camcool linked to it in one of his posts, and i took a look around. they have amazing prices and what looks like qualtie wood.. but it seems a littly fishy. im probley going to try and buy some of the curley walnut from them if everyone thinks a good idea, but at this point i cant afford to loose the money on a ripoff.
  16. its happened to me twice, luckly i had some extra in the shop. But its really easy to install. and thier not too expensive
  17. They make smaller (width wise), higher qualtie masking tape thats quite thick for doing speicialty trim work, or whatever your doing.
  18. yah, but the thing is, he dosnt have the money... he was just posting to get attention. I think if he would wise up a little he could be a good bulider, because he deffinatly has ambition. but yes, it isnt right to contiounuisly slam anybody.. but somtimes a little negitivity is the only way some people learn. camcool, you have my appology for being *edit* not a very nice person */edit*. but do try to wise up and take usefull advice.
  19. solid colour, or are you doing a transparent finish?
  20. WHAT!!!! camcool, what happened to all that money you were going to use to buy yourself a crotch gancao alves top!! that 80 bucks a week. and how, how, how, do you get fired from mowing lawns!
  21. A fella on MIMF made a guitar body out of cheapish wood to test pickups positions. He routed out to the correcto depth, all the way from (about an inch awayfrom) the neck, then to the bridge, and left some space for stibility, and set up guide rails, and tested the positions.
  22. its much more economical too. You dont use up so much great looking wood on one guitar. it saves money, and luithers can always use some extra cash. but if your covering a hunk of poplar in veneer, then i agree with you on that one.
  23. Hey, welcom to the fourms! I know your new and dont know this, so dont take it the wrong way. When you have a question, please just post it once, and in only one topic, it can really clutter up the board, and make some disgruntled people even moreso disgruntled (and you wont get nice responses) and, a lot of questions have already been anwsered (not these ones to my knowledge) so try using the search a little, and you will be happy with what you find. (search is in upper left hand corner of screen) good luck -Dylan
