1. in other words you give away your time.some people can't afford to provide charity every day like that."rip off" my left foot
2. i wish.i already overspent this year. i think that guy is going to miss that amp.that line 6 head is a real turd(comparitively speaking) just no depth to the sound like a jcm 2000 has. when i do get to spend more i think i am going after a vintage jcm 800
3. i like the looks of that place.no neighbors to piss you off
4. don't get me wrong.i just ordered a guitar to be built with the 18 volt system.i am also building a beast which i routed for two boxes for the 18 volt system.i know it is preffered by many...but one battery per guitar is what is reccomended
5. no argument here...i just don't see the logic..i see more potential setup problems than i see potential headstock breakage. but all of my guitars have been shipped to me strung to full pitch.no problems here
6. yes.they come with everything you need
7. only one per guitar,no matter how many pickups.
8. wireless mic, wireless guitar.that is all you need.
9. of course it will move.hit the low e and pull a higher string to a full bend without sounding it(the higher string).you will hear the low e drop in pitch. does not matter how many springs you have either, because you only have enough tension to counter the string pull anyway, you just unscrew the trem claw to achive the same pull that you could get with three springs if the claw was screwed in further,if you see what i mean.
10. well now,if you ship in a hard case, you don't have to worr about the headstock. my opinion is that if they hit it hard enough to break the headstock through a hard case, then loosening your strings isn't going to help a bit. you are more likely to get a persistent backbow in the neck.unless you have a two way truss rod which fits snug in it's tightly routed channel.in which case the neck will never move very much at all from where your rod is set.
11. if you pull a bend on one string(say the high e for example) on a guitar with a floating trem,it slightly loosens all of the other strings, and if the g string is the one with the poorly cut slot, that will be the only string which does not return to "zero" when you release the bend on the high e...therefore the g with the poorly cut slot will remain slightly sharp. solution=round the slot out better and rub graphite in it
12. GROUND THE BRIDGE. i swear the wiring schematics don't include a bridge ground for no reason.if you don't want to ground the bridge, you only have ONE viable option.active pickups.that's it... if you must use passives, then use a little sense.ground the bridge and play it regularly through your own home outlets(if you don't trust your home's electrical system, then you have problems). then when you play away from home on a stage setup, use a wireless system.
13. that was a long time ago.i have not seen them for less than $99 in a long time. $100 is a fair price for installation.the reason it is more expensive than passives is because they have to entirely rewire it with the supplied pots and jack, unlike passives, where they just slip out the old wires and slip in the new ones. if they were,in fact.going to rout a battery box,it would be MUCH more expensive, and they would definately tell you first.
14.
What happened to Genz-Benz, Carvin, Ampeg and Standell?
oh..ya know...and stuff.just cuz... seriously though...i am betting nothing happened to them.you can find them at carvin.com,ampeg.com...etc... why...waddja hear? did a bear eat em?
15. i second that. long answer is that since the object of a pressurized cabin is to keep atmospheric pressure at normal ground levels, then it would maintain the guitar as well as it maintains a human.
16. Who is Brian? Where can i find him on the web or call him? i want to keep building kits, but this experience is a little disheartning. ← it is still a wonder to me that someone could join this forum without even looking into who makes it possible.without brian, you would be at mimf. Brian is like God.when the site was first created He was present everywhere, putting in a helping and guiding hand on a daily basis. now you don't see him nearly as much, but you must take it on faith that he is still there, behind the scenes, guiding everything. besides....who do you think opens the gotm thread and poll every month, closes it,and then adds the winner to the home page? brian will probably fly down to texas and kick my ass for this post ..or throw a bolt of lightning my way?
17. best idea by far.guitar builders are wise to have other sources of income such as this to pay for their hobby. more people buy pool cues and high end pens than guitars.think about it
18. get off your high horse, and don't be a punk. i have used soft maple and hard maple.i would not use soft maple for a thin neck that is supposed to last a lifetime. the object of this site is to let people know of potential drawbacks to their ideas.my post does exactly that. hard maple and soft maple are almost the same price where i buy it.maybe where you are the soft maple is more plentiful.but even at the price YOU give, you are only talking about a difference of about $12 vs $5.10 for a neck blank...and alot of that depends on bolt on or set neck vs neck through. and if you get intimidated by words on your computer, then i submit that you are probably scared of your own shadow as well. so in conclusion.just state your opinion and move on.i don't need you trying to guess my motives. because on this forum there is always some punk trying to contradict for no other reason than to make themselves feel important, especially by contradicting a v.i.p. or a mod.
19. on the contrary...it is a common(sort of) tecnique.. http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/bsb.htm
20. harder than mahogany, but mahogany is more stable. see, here is the thing.most people want their electrics to have these super thin necks...you should use rock maple for that,or something similar... if you are making a thick, short neck, like on an acoustic or similar, then THAT may be suitable for soft maple.i still would not use it personally.especially considering rock maple is plentiful and no more expensive. but whatever...it's you guitar, take as many chances as you want with it
21. another member also tried to use soft maple on a one piece strat neck...he said it was quite too flexible
22. what is wrong with a 10" radius? if you want a 12" radius...use the schaller floyd.it is reportedly every bit as goos as the original
23. you know...i really like that concept.i think i would have left off the devil's tail...maybe a pentagram instead..but i realize some of you religious types might have a problem with that. but that is what i did on my "burn in hell" type of refinish.the "burn" on mine did not look as good though
