  1. yes i can...but i don't know how.you may be lazier than me but i am sure you know your way around your software better than i do. everything i record is basically quite simply done...because i don't know how to loop tracks or any of that.i play the entire song 5 times in a row, then bounce it all to one track so i can record the bass seperately... then i am going to have to write leads for all of it...and also at some point i need to figure out my drum software so i can add that in. i am trying to pull the metal version of what nine inch nails and ministry did.one guy,a few guitars and basses, and some drum software. vocals i will have to get a vocalist for.you do NOT want to hear me do that part
  2. no offsetting either.my mouse is not sensitive enough to come any closer than about 64 milliseconds...which is WAAY too loose. no i will spill the beans.there are 5 tracks there, all played seperately, but with no monitoring...meaning they are played with the same click track every time,so there are no built up latencies...what you hear is just the slight variation in playing that occurs when you play a track 5 times in a row and put them on top of each other. all of the e.q.ing was done after all the tracks were combined.but there was some combining of different amp tones. EDIT but try listening again with the volume turned way down...it is a tighter sound than you think.i gaurantee part of what you are hearing is due to ther speakers not handling the bottom end of that mahogany baritone played through a mode 4 hooked up to a full stack of 1960 vintage cabs
  3. wrong.zero reverb.may just be your speakers rattling from all the bass. or it could be something else...but that is my secret for now.but there are no effects other than distortion
  4. there are ways around micing the amp.you could get a v-amp or a pod and run it direct into your mixer...you might be surprised at how good one of those things records. BUT i have a shure 57 running into a mixer that i can mic my cab with,or i can run my line out directly into the mixer,or i can mic my acoustic guitar,or i can do several other top secret things to achieve a fuller sound, like this one my link
  5. ANY time you make a generalization about a race or a religion it becomes offensive. by the way that phrase is not accepted american slang anywhere i have been.granted i have never been to new york or california but i have been just about everywhere else...and that statement will lead to harsh words at the least, most times worse than that, unless you just happen to be surrounded by ignorant bigots
  6. you still need to take the speakers up to volume to get the full sound from them.how loud depends on the speakers. but the shure 57 is what you need
  7. yes.it will fit. i just recently put emgs in my les paul studio.there was plenty of room, especially using the smaller pots that come with the zw set
  8. i would stick with the limba, greg. for a guitar like that i think you would be quite dissapointed if you used maple in it's place...based on the all maple steinberger i had. it's also quite easy to find dark and consistent walnut.
  9. that's what i use.it is much less sensitive than some others...so you get to crank the amp up loud and get the full sound.
  10. i went without a decent guitar for years and years.at least you have a guitar. i don't know man..to be honest...when you already have a guitar to play and you still ask for charity so that you can have ANOTHER one..well,that goes against my principles. i have a better suggestion.mow yards or whatever you have to do to earn the money...then get what you want.it's a long road, but nothing worth having comes that easy...
  11. this was before the 505.the 505 was considered the replacement for the zoom 5000 because they said it did more for the same price(total crap...the distortion they have now does not compare.it was also the first multi effects box,but not the first distortion product they still made stompboxes recently...trimetal etc... http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...D=159&brandID=4 http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...D=158&brandID=4
  12. ah...found it.. zoom 5000...made in japan "color" knob(distortion type) stack 1,stack 2,combo 112,r&b,metal,and "zoom box" one of these days i will get it working again
  13. i don't know what you mean by a multi...it only does distortion, that's all it was made for,but it has different types of distortion.i used the metal setting of course, but it also had combo,blues...a couple of others...i would tell you more, but i can't seem to find where i left it but it is a large red and black stompbox style made out of heavy duty plastic(super tough) with a circular knob to select the type of distortion, plus gain, bass, mid, and treble control knobs on the top it simply says "zoom driver" i can't even find a picture of one online
  14. of course ram is important when recording.every resource i have read agrees that ram is an important factor when lowering latency here is an article http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558...209KTX1K0100361 that says that ram speed does in fact effect latency, mildly in these cases...of course, these tests are between similar ram..only difference is that the ram tested was marketed as "low latency" but even a mild improvement can be a big help for recording...if you do,in fact, want to play along with prerecorded tracks and not have to mess with matching up the tracks later...remember that even a slight bit of latency is audible as a delay. also...not enough ram can cause clicking or popping while recording if you have more tracks than it can handle. seems like i remember reading that nuendo will handle as many tracks as your ram can handle....that seems to be a clear indicator that more ram = better performance. faster processor can't hurt either
  15. i know that's right...at least i admit my ego is big enough to fill it's own solar system.
  16. no...it was drak...he is funnin you guys.
  17. computer is the way to go...it's not easy to get familiar with...but the results are worth it. i am just in the tip of the iceberg with mine, and it is quite exciting stuff.i would give you a sample of what i have done...but it is top secret.only a select few are privy to hearing it for now..but eventually i will have a complete cd recorded for everyone to hear. have to look into copyrights though...don't want my stuff stolen i believe that is what i have...delta m-audio 44m with a small behringer mixer and a shure mic. i can record acoustic through the mic, record my marshall or my traynor through it,or i can use my top secret mojo box straight into the mixer
  18. no...mine is called a "zoom driver" i believe it was one of the first drive pedals zoom made ...back in the early 90s i think was when i got it...maybe late eightees? anyway they don't make it anymore...matter of fact i saw one at guitar center recently in a museum style display case...made me feel old...especially when i said "hey,i got one of those" and the punk behind the counter said " i can't believe yours still works" by the way mine did stop working since then had to replace it with a boss metal zone...the zoom was better
  19. i had a zoom driver for years...really,truly great distortion for metal. the zoom 3000 is supposed to have all that and more.zoom effects are top knotch.
  20. probably had something to do with the fact that the acceleration of a bullet coming back down is only as much as what gravity can pull it.and things reach maximum velocity fairly quickly...so basically it would have been as if a rock of the same weight had been dropped 3 or 4 stories onto the top of his head.it would hurt...but i doubt it would really penetrate, given the small mass of a bullet. but i really don't believe that story anyway.the chances of it coming straight back down are astronomical...especially given wind speed and all that. but could you please all drop the stupid nonexistent kkk connection?who cares what those fools are doing...it has nothing to do with guitars. what if some guy named mario ibanez killed hundreds of college coeds at spring break(for example)?would you expect ibanez to change their names? and kxk is only as similar to kkk as cat is to cot...the more literate you are,the less one letter is going to fool you
  21. don't have to ask.the only reason i can see to not have room is that you are putting 36 or so frets on it. if you are selling it anyway...duncan jb is cheaper and more people like them...but personally i think the emg 81 is far superior.
  22. at the end of the month an admin will post "time to vote here" and "here " will be a link to the polling section where you will be able to vote.be very careful when you vote because you will only have one shot....and do not click "view voting" because it will read it as a non vote and you only get one chance per month. then the admin will close the gotm topic...only the poll will remain open until the last day of the month(voting begins on the 20th if i remember right) also...it is an anonymous vote.you can choose to tell who you voted for...but it is not required
  23. modded guitars ARE allowed in gotm.it is not just for custom built. to my knowledge a modded guitar has never beat a full custom...but i agree i think it is wrong to tell someone false information. BUT it is not up to us mods to pull an "investigation" either.it must have been said via p.m. and mpel should have asked one of the moderating team. i wondered about that blank post of his..but i left it in case it was a mistake
