  1. Looking good! I'm jeleous of all the progress made by you two. I'm still in all the way, don't worry. I just ordered an Indian rosewood neckblank. Doesn't count as expensive wood pron as it was IMO dirt cheap (27bucks). Wednesday I'll go get mahogany and start work. I won't be quick as this is only my second build and first build actually doing the neck. I reckon that will be the most timeconsuming.
  2. I love how it turned out! Though I must say I'm not totally with your design choice of making the topside perhaps even skinnier than the original. The finish looks great and the complete picture does work though.
  3. Thanks! I was planning on getting the wood for the wings at the "Arnhemse fijnhouthandel". I wasn't aware that they had wood specifically for instrument building. I'll take a look when I'm there and if I don't find what I'm looking for I'll keep looking and worse case scenario go for a set neck setup. Cheers Willem
  4. Thanks for that, it will be finished solid, so looks don't matter. The problem is not getting wood but finding neck blanks for a neck through. And in that case all I can find are strips of different woods (in this case maple & Padouk) to be laminated.
  5. I'm looking for a supplier that has neck through blanks. Preferably a single piece mahogany quarter sawn blank. (I will use carbon bars for strengthening) The fact that I want mahogany brings another problem, international shipping. Other woods are also an option as long as it's not to bright sounding, as I'm using p-90's and would a warmer tone. I'm located in the Netherlands, and it would be best if the supplier is located in or around these parts. In case of other woods, abroad is not a problem. Thanks in advance I know this is one of those questionable questions as it has probably been asked before, but searching for something like this obviously turns up nothing. I hope I'm not duplicating an existing topic. Cheers Willem
  6. Cool looking pups and guitar! What kind of sound do those pups produce? Cheers
  7. Very cool looking, but exactly the same question as the above.
  8. String trees is what I'm planning on in my entry, and I'll set the tuners as low as possible. Great progress! still going ahead like lightning!
  9. Not exactly a mockup but here goes Best I could do for now...
  10. A small update to keep the fans happy . The image is quite unclear, so I'll try to make a mockup in photoshop (something which I'm unexperienced in). Progress is going dead slow because of my internship and my waiting for lefty tuners (that's the reason why the tuners aren't in line with the strings on the template, they are righties.) Cheers
  11. Wow great progress... Is it me or is the body shape lengthened ?(it looks almost like the pic is a bit stretched)
  12. Man you're racing allong! I'm still stuck in the design phase, but that's mainly because of my internship and my waiting for lefty tuners.. Looking good so far! I toyed with the idea of slanting my soapbar in my entry, but it just looks a whole lot more ugly then when you do it with a hb like you do.. Looking forward to the next steps! Cheers
  13. Hey, a fellow Dutchie! Nice project, I like the reversed shape of a mosrite.
  14. Somehow I can't find the firefly on the ax84 site... Is the P1 the firefly perhaps?
  15. Nice! Like the way you did something new to the design. It seems to work to me! (visually)
  16. As in "to keep the chicks from touching it" orange? Looking good so far! Can't wait to see it with hardware..
  17. Thanks for all the feedback. @ drak: The situation I was in when buying my amp was as follows: I actually was interested in the Orange tiny terror, which at that time was only available as a top. The top itself already cost 400 something euro's. I went to a store in Germany twice to test out some amps, and it turned out that the 50 watt peavey valveking sounded fine at lower volumes (at least way better then my roland cube 15) It was also a lot more versatile then the tiny terror. I kept checking out a dutch site which is somewhat like ebay for a second hand one, and they went at about 375 euros. Then one day I saw the 100 watt version, open to bidding. So I thought what the heck, I'll make a ridiculous bid (325). And to my greatest surprise the guy called me and told me he didn't feel like waiting and that he accepted my bid. That's how I ended up with this amp. Basically I only use it in my bedroom in my appartment. Walls aren't exactly woundproof here. I can get the amp to sound quite allright (though not near warm of course) but the trouble is to adjust the volume. Breath at the volume knob and it's already too loud. So the power attenuator sounds to me like a good option though expensive. I'll look into those options the others mentioned as well. Cheers
  18. Thanks, I looked it up and they're a lot cheaper! (not exactly cheap though (200bucks))
  19. I'm no electronics genius, so doing it myself isn't exactly an option. If I have to believe the text on the THD site, there are other power attenuators out there, yet they muffle the sound a bit. The idea with the carpets/closet etc, won't work as I'm in a small appartment and don't have room for an extra cab. (My amp is a combo). Cheers
  20. Ok, checked it out and turns out the thing costs more then my whole amp cost... (yeah I got a great deal on my 100 watt peavey valveking) It will definitely take some contemplating. At the least cool to know what im looking for exists. Does anyone know any other (Cheaper) options? Thanks in advance..
