  1. matt... how did you get those edges so crisp? that thing is awesome, i either HAVE to rip off the design, or buy one from you..
  2. it looks like it was rescued from a plane crash. and i thought my creations were crap...
  3. happy ending! the guitar went back and got a full refund of ALL costs. so i'll be back online tonight looking for another. im gullible like that
  4. i always fancied trying hammerite, but id never seen it talked about much... matt that headstocks lookin' groovy. it looks just like mine! (except a better paintjob than mine ) i thought the impaler had been unleashed upon an unsuspecting human world? is it back in the workshop? can i call upon you for some headstock help with my next axe matt? im doing something silly and will need some inspiration... oh... ive said too much already...
  5. the guitars away, so lets hope my tale ends as happily as yours kith
  6. its all still not resolved yet. his claim to refund me "all my money", what means by that could be my initail costs (the auction price + postage) but that might not include the cost of sending the thing back, so im sending second class as cheaply as i can. as for feedback, if i get a full refund then fine, positive feedback and i'll put it down to a misunderstanding. i guess i shouldnt get so worked up about these things, i suppose its the thought that something might go wrong and i could end out of pocket, no guitar, and negative feedback...
  7. here was me thinking id found a real bargain. a black encore guitar (probably the cheapest and most popular guitar in the world) on ebay for a pittance and i won it! it arrived quite quickly and was so eager to strip it down for parts to build my next guitar. ive dealt with encores before so i know what i can use and what i cant. imagine my utter utter horror at first unwrapping the guitar from nothing but bubblewrap and selotape! it was a total piece of junk! the body was chipped and scrathed to hell! the neck was worn down so much on the board and the frets. the machine heads were archiac and broken. when i plugged it in it crackled so much it practically wept. obviously i eagerly checked the auction page and of course there was the get out clause "im not a musical person.. so i cant say anything about this" the photo was very cleverly taken to conceal just about every ding on it. so you could say... ive been had. ive argued for a refund and it seems hes going to do it... when i send the guitar back. something tells me this story hasnt ended yet. all this from a guy with good feedback. my confidence in ebay destroyed
  8. that guitar site is great, the "build your own guitar" section is perfect for seeing diferent colour combo's at the touch of a button!
  9. that wicked design deserves something different. why not just do without? my annihilator rocks without pots. and id definitly say you get the "11" effect by leaving them out. just a thought!
  10. OI! BIN RAKER! i got caught having a look in a skip the other day, it was full of knackered furniture and i thought "oh i, there might something useful in there..." i moved a chest of drawers over and guy behind me was shouting "OI... GET OUT OF THERE" i moved on feeling like a naughty schoolboy. thats the thing with doing wood projects and being skint, you cant help but eye up everything made of wood! its been ages since i looked at this thread matt and bloody nora ive missed alot! its looking good, that dye is gonna rock and any hardware would go with it. silly question... but are you putting in pots? would be a shame to spoil that design with some nasty plastic jobbies. what about something alternative for knobs? someone mentioned rivvets earlier on...
  11. just as you wrote that i found an explanation on page 6 ... i understand completely.
  12. ok, my head might not not be completely screwed on tonight, but... why do you need to ground the bridge?
  13. cheers matt, its just so good to be finished! theres a slight noise from the pickups, but i think i know how to retify that, better grounding! my brother just used some solder that was left on the base of the pickup plate (not ideal i know) but now that ive got some earth washer things i can ground it properly.
  14. cheers greg yeah i know, i simply refuse to pay top dollar for anything, which is probably why it took so long to build this thing ! sound bite added!
  15. ANNIHILATION IS AT HAND... http://deadmike.150m.com/annihilator.htm its finally over... tears... blood ... small children.. no sacrifice was too great to achieve the extasy of owning my very own ani. thanks to everyone for theyre guidance, support, ideas, advice and general intrest in my guitar. its truly been worthwhile and i cant wait to start on my next guitar.
  16. RESSURECTION!!! just when you thought this guitar was dead! http://deadmike.150m.com/page_9.htm sorry for the crap pics, i only had two minutes to take them so it was snap snap snap and that was the best of the bunch.
  17. its like a twisted ESP Viper. i like the idea, but the "beer belly" in the right bottom corner is a bit big. if it was a bit smaller i think it would look excellent. any headstock ideas?
  18. im gutted that i couldnt finish my guitar for this month, considering it was a metal month i thought my annihilator would look good up there with the rest, even if the craftsmanship wasnt a patch on the others. i was hoping and praying the last 11 days that i could get the machine heads to finish it off, but i STILL havent found any suitable (and cheap enough). very frustrating seeing it all in bits waiting for 1 part. as soon as those pegs arrive it'll take me about 30 minutes to assemble and string the damn thing up. next month mayhaps....
  19. ... progress was great... until someone switched off the workshops natural gravity!
  20. sorry if its been mentioned before, bit how does the (fretless) fretboard handle the friction of the strings? doesnt it get worn down really quickly? i have to say, that guitar is like something from satans nightmares! its just incredible!
  21. bah. my anni would wipe the floor with you lot. if it worked that is...
  22. painting question: im using nitro cellulose rattle can, black gloss. after about 8 light coats the guitar was looking great, no depth, but still great! but then after that the coats were coming out with bubbles in a localised area of the body. after sanding them down and respraying the pitting left behind filled up no probs and left no sign of bubbles.... only to have bubbles appear in other areas. the endless cycle began! ive tried to keep the spray area as clean as possible. could this be caused by contamination? i sanded and prepared this particular area (the front) alot better than the rest of the guitar and wiped it all down with white spirits before spraying. whats causing the bubbles???
  23. very unusual! i love the bat inlays on the neck, i MUST try and do that someday.... or pay somebody to do it for me...
  24. bloody hell willin!! can i be your best pal? jerry is my f*kkin hero!! if only i could marry his daughter i could be jerry's son in law and i could replace him in the misfits in 10 years time (or so) like an apprentice! ok, i'll stop dreaming now. hey willin, if you could (i know im asking A HUGE FAVOUR) but do you think you could find out if : 1) jerry and/or doyle would/do approve of this fans build? coz i know they dont like rip-offs.... 2) any tips they might be able to give me? id give my left testicle to get in touch with them. as for you, building your own guitar is incredibly rewarding even if your crap at it like me, its alot of fun and you should just go for it! im sure jerry will let you use the shop!
