  1. Icelandic! yes please! some basics would be nice also what could be helpfull if you brake tho word down phoneticly so its easyer to learn how to pronouce. Thats pretty much how i learnt French and German. Funny thing is when i was in spain i felt like a complete pillok for the first few days there, just because i couldnt speak any (well next to none) of the language. I now know enough phrases to get by, i just think its a common courtousy to attemp to speak their language when your in their country, they do it when they come to ours.
  2. For the most part me and the lead player in my band use pretty simelar guitars, i play Epi les Pauls and he uses a LTD Eclipse with EMG's loaded in it. Now he has a Schecter Syn standerd and ive got my 7 string Ibanez. The only theme here being that there all twin humbucker guitars. We sound differant due to the gear, he uses a spider 2/12 and i use various marshall amps that i borrow. In the studio i have used strats for some of the work, one track has a tele in it. Its quite hard to say what will work with what you just got to try it out for yourself, youl find somthing that will stick.
  3. this is a flat top guitar yeh? if you want to keep the binding i would suggest that you rout the top to teh depth of the mirror, glue that on, then re-bind it as you normaly would. if you attemp to keep the origional binding i beleve that you run a very high risk of destroying it anyway. one thought i had was to try and find a realy thin mirro plexi glass, shatter that then glue that on with out routing anything. it would have to be realy thin to avoid having to shim the neck.
  4. Im not too sure aout the mirror but for the template you can just make your own out of 1/2 ply or simelar. you aleady have the body to get a copy from. itl save you some money too.
  5. My band have just been together for about 6weeks now, we didnt even have a bass player till last week too. We dont have a CD yet but were working on a extended EP. We just played our first ever gig on friday night and the crowd seemed to like us. Listen to some of our stuff at The Amplitude on Bebo or The Amplitude on Myspace tell me what you think
  6. when the trem goes back to its normal position are the strings sharp? if so it sound like they are binding in the nut, try removing the srtings and rubbing some graphite in the nut slots, that should help stop them from binding.
  7. Very very very nice! tell us how you get on with the FF in the guitar, its a LOT of fun to play with
  8. Wich i had the money but shipping would be a bit of a killer for me. That is a lovley neck tho. (note to self, dont spend so much money....)
  9. Currently have - Ibanez WD7 weeping demon wah (bloody amazing wah) Will soon have - Digitech Whammy4, Fuzz Factory. maby a boss od1. probbibly not tho. I liek to keep it simply but i like making weird noises hence the fizz factory and whammy.
  10. For what its worth i quite regulary have my Paul in C-standard with no problems, i just chuck on a set of 11-56's and its fine.
  11. Option 4? Buy the full set, copy the neck template on to your own material (ei make an other template) and sell on the full set on ebay or somthing?
  12. It is tapered. you should route the neck posked to match the neck you are using. Do a search for Myka's neck pocket jig.
  13. http://simnettguitars.co.uk/bb/viewtopic.p...167&start=0 Youl have to register to veiw it but baisicly its full router tamplates for £30 postage payed. You can use them as masters and make as many tamplates as you want from them. Getting a set of Tele templates of him at the end of the month (ie when i get payed)
  14. Yeh, i tested the cable and its fine, thats why i think its somthing up with the amp itself. Its a decent little amp and ive had it for 4 years with no problems untill now.
  15. Hey, i got a problem here, my amp was working befor i went on my course for 2 weeks, when i got back it isnt, all i get when i plug the guitar in is static, witch gets worse when i touch the strings. What could be causing this and can i fix it myself. The amp isnt that great (marshall MG15dfx) but its the only one i have. Suggestions?
  16. No, a RO sander would take ages, but a grinder, as Jay said, is realy good fun to carve with.
  17. I carved the top of my Les Paul using a 40grit sanding atatchment, it was very easy and quick, but practice alittle on scrap to get a feel for it, you can take of ALOT of material very quick.
  18. The single greatest thing for getting over writers block is getting canned by your lady friend. I wrote 3 songs in a night after that and were using them in our upcoming EP. (note the link in my signature is dead, it will go to a site but it is not updated. i'll change it when the new site is built) Thats just my opinion, i feel if you have something you want to talk about, or some feelings that you have that are realy strong the words just seem to come realy easy, then the music just follows.
  19. But on this guitar do you? thats the thing, you have a guitar where you can play up the neck like you said, why dont you have this one set up with a capo? or experiment using some lighter gauge strings? I find on an acoustic ligher strings make a hell of a differance (but i play with 13's on my acoustic so my opinion probibly isnt worth much). Only you can decide what the right thing is for you,
  20. Ask yourself how often you use the upper frets of your guitar. i bet its not that often as you dont have a cutaway. Just use a capo, if you dont like it, maby go down a gauge and tune to a step higher.
