  1. Gents, As I appear to have been screwed out of bonus at work and I'm getting married next month, I need to sell my Patrick Eggle Vinatge Classic and I need to sell it soon. The guitar is from the propper Patrick Eggle era, when Mr Eggle himself still did them. It's isn't one of later versions where the quality had dropped slightly. It was made in 1996 and has NEVER BEEN STRUNG UP. I got the guitar about a year ago and I am currently waiting to get the money to buy the TOM bridge and the pup rings, so it has been nicely stored since then. The guitar has been flatted down at the factory and just needs a buff to bring it out to full gorgeousness. The guitar needs hardware, pups, electronics and cavity covers, all of which wont be a problem to fit for 99% of the people that hang around on here. The guitar originally sold for around £1,600 and I'm asking £750 for it (what with it still being brand new). The chances of another offer like this comming up for a guitar like this is very small. If anyone is interested then reply here as my PM's don't work. I vowed to never sell this guitar as it is the perfect guitar for me. Basically, it's an even nicer PRS than a PRS, but I need the money so it has to go. Here's the guitar pre-buffing: The last photo was when the masking tape was being removed from the fret board. Photo's are from a mobile, so not the best quality.
  2. Beauty may be skin deep............... ..............but ugly goes right down to the bone (or truss rod in this case). Actually to be honest, I can see some good in that. It looks like the basis of what could be a very nice axe.
  3. I drew a little blood from my thumb the other day. Slipped with the Stanley knife when I was cutting my toe nails (honestly - I couldn't find the nail clippers)
  4. After talking to a guy in the pub the other night (I'm currently trying to con him out of his Variax), he was telling me about a mod you do on coil tapped HB's where a tone pot blends the amount of humbucking that goes on. I've never heard of this before, but he said he's seen a guitar with it on and that it makes the guitar very versatile indeed. Apparently when the pot is in the zero postion, the HB acts as a single coil and when it's up a 10 the HB is a full on HB. Everything in between acts as the single coil with varying amounts of the second coil being effective. Waht do you think, possible, BS or was he smiking crack in the bogs in between pints? Kaj
  5. Ha ha, sounds like my house on a Friday, you should come round
  6. Ban the car then, that would save a lot of problems
  7. Does the string keep breaking in the same place (at the nut or saddles)?
  8. Actually, it's supposed to be one of the best things for absorbing heavy metals out of the ground. I've been told that there's loads of hemp plants been planted around Chenobeyl. Dunno if it's true or not though. I'd also, by no means say that smoking anything is good for you. The only way you can smoke weed without the bad bits is through a vaporiser which burns off everything except for the THC. All the green bits are just there for show and smoking them is by no means healthy. Better for you than tobacco by all accounts but that's like saying Whiskey is better for you than Vodka.
  9. Wow man, I was wondering how this thread came to life again. Anyhoo, I think that a bit of Ben Harper could be suitable here: "My choice is what I chose to do And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you Your choice is who you choose to be And if your causing no harm, you're alright with me" Say's it all really
  10. Melvin, I've posted on the other guitar forums where I'm a member. I've asked that if they find an e-book to let me know. I'll then pass on the message. I hate theiving little scrotes
  11. I see relicing as just another type of finish. Obviously I prefer if a guitar has earn't it. I have a reverse firebird copy that's all bettered and I love it, I was going to refinish it, but I thought that it adds to the life of the guitar. I can see where the feelings that it's fake come from, but if that was the case, we should be dubious about vaneers too.
  12. I've still balls it up though Although only once. I'll do it with a hand drill next time
  13. I get some things laser cut occassionally and when I do, although they accept dxf and dwg files, they cannot accept drawings with splines on them. For the outline of a guitar body (resonator), I draw it with splines and then do as many arc's as it takes to go over the outline (which often helps to smooth everything out). Not sure if CNC is the same, but it will be worth checking before giving them the drawings. Kaj
  14. This thread was originally in the electric section. Porkipine77 - There has been a massive spat of spamming here which is why you got the replies you did. I'll give you the benifit of the doubt and say that you were just unlucky with your first post. Stick around and don't worry about it. Unless you are actually spamming the site in which case you can suck my balls.
  15. Wow man, that's only two momma's and mine would eat you alive. Christ mate you wouldn't know what you'd be getting yourself into. Made me larf out loud though
  16. Surely you've got more than 1 guitar. Is it called Parmala Handerson? j/k crafty, couldn't help myself. What sort of bridge is that, very tasty?
  17. Welcome back. When you get a few minutes, let us know how the Tremel-no is going.
  18. I used a Japanese Micro Saw from David Dyke in the UK. Ha dthe right kerf for jumbo fret wire. Didn't use a template, just a ruler and a square.
  19. Just been looking at Myka's site again. I'd go for one of those if I had the money......wonder if he'll make me a wedding pressie
  20. This thread is turning in a car crash. I know I should stop looking, but I just can't help it.
  21. I painted my polished-turd-ocaster in blue smooth hammerite. Really couldn't work out if it looked crap or not. It was supposed to look slightly dodgy and did the job well.
  22. Wow man, just had a look on your website and I'm very impressed. Some of theose axes are lovely and wierd. Welcome top the boards and remember that we're all picture junkies. Kaj
  23. I was absolutely shocked at what a good job my first neck carve came out like. Thought that it would be much harder than it actually was. As for the guitar..............butt ugly (and my butt is fairly ugly) But if you like it, then furry muff. Very heavy metal, you'll need BIG permed hair top play it properly
  24. I'd take it somewhere for a proper set up. It sounds like it could do with it. My luthier mate charges about £30 which includes stoning frets etc, I think that this sort of thing would pay dividends
