  1. sorry... I was refering to the Floyd Rose Speedloader... there were a couple of guys talking about it on the 1st or 2nd page i think
  2. ^^so your saying i'd be better to get a drum sander? As it can do both things, but a thicknesser takes wood off easier (sort of like a router and a dremel?)
  3. Well... I've seen them on youtube and both look like they do they same? Are they? What are there differences? What is the purpose of them (what do they do)? Thanks fellas
  4. With the using a Floyd Rose speed loader on a headless idea how do you tune it? I know it has special strings but the dont come pretuned haha (do they?) because otherwise there is no other way to tune them.... Also about where to buy them doesn't guitar fetish sell them seperate? Oh yeah awesome guitar man and I love that bridge to bad i dont have $350 lol
  5. I know about the headstocks and the fretboards... Its the program i used, do you guys know of any other good programs which offer different fretboards and stuff?
  6. Haha lol this thread has sort of turned into a discussion thread.... Anyway.. We went out last night to dads friends place for dinner and he said that he could supply my with body and neck wood.. Whooo free wood. So now i don't have as much restrictions money wise... Anyway i want build a few guitars so here are my ideas... (very unlikely i will actually build all of them just some ideas) This one gets first preference.. i always wanted to build a cherry red les paul ever since i saw one.. not exactly this colour more the red colour of the gibson robots... Pictures dont look to good what do you guys think, is there anything else i should add, which guitars do you like the best? I want to experiment with different fretboards.. figured stuff mainly
  7. If your still looking for a fretboard check our www.ormsby.com they have a few there. What colours the rest of the guitar going to be? I'd try looking for something similar in colour to the guitar...
  8. Ormsby... I know this thread is REALLY old and you probably wont see this... But on your website when I buy 3 sets and get one free do I need to pay for the extra postage? And will the extra postage only be $4 if its under 10mm thick Will the postage in Australia be $22 + $4 + $4 if I buy 4 sets (one free) Does that $22 pay for two sets (eg. one curly maple and one spalted)
  9. haha perry, i was just about to recommend you after reading the 1st page but it looks like you beat me by 6 months haha
  10. I wish I lived over there near you I would be right over to your shop and buy a few boards.... To bad I live in Australia and postage will cost to much
  11. go straight to stew mac mate!
  12. I dont have one that I can copy for you but you may be able to buy one off this site.... http://www.guitarbuildingtemplates.com/electricguitar.htm I'll look around and see if i can get you one still.. good luck
  13. awesome idea for the radius jig... Is it adjustable for diiferent radiuses.. Cause it would be a fantastic idea and shouldn't be to hard to make it adjustable... anyway good luck with your second attemp
  14. How much for postage to 4814 (australia) I am very interested in them.... I will just see if I can make a few dollars here and there so i can buy them! (do not hold them for me though as I may unlikely to buy these beautiful pieces of wood
  15. Well I was just very curious as i am planning to start building a few guitars for my self in the next couple of years and i was just wondering what would look cool on my guitars and still sound alright. Plus i wanted to learn more from the "experts" here on PG as well as researching a bit myself about fretboards. Thanks guys!
  16. well i like my name haha! But no thats not me, he lives in NY and joined on the 14 of april 04 and i only joined the other week or day lol. Plus his user name thingy was camcool so it wasn't really just Cam. but i might look into changing it, if possible?
  17. Ok...... Just starting this thread so i can learn about fretboards and there different tones and everything. I know the most common woods for fretboards are ebony, rosewood, maple and birdseye maple. But what about other woods like, flamed maple, mahogany, quilted maple, acrilic/ plexiglass? Is there any other woods used or can be used? What are the tonal differences? Could you imagine a nice quilted maple fretboard! Chuck everything you know in this thread!
  18. hey i have 2 questions... 1. On the new hybrid Kahlers how much routing is needed. is it rear routed like fender strats? or just top routed a little bit? 2. Also because the whammy/ tremolo bar comes up between the E and B string. When you do divebombs etc does the bar touch the strings?
  19. lookin good! I like that blue much better than the red i think. Although the thing I don't really like is the volume and tone controls and the switch position. I don't know why. But on guitars like the Ibanez RG and stuff, i hate the 2 controls and that switch there. but anyway thats my opinion. Good work!
  20. ok! For the stencil, use masking tape. Paint it black. Tape it up. Paint it white. take the tape off. Tape it up. Paint it red take the tape off. Finish. For the neck. Theres to ways. either route out the neck pocket towards the bridge. or route out the maple bit (or whatever wood you have) underneath the fretboard back towards the nut.
  21. this is awesome! For the octave guitar (the middle one in the pic right?) did you just use normal hardware and all? And for the mini one. Where did you find such small hardware and the pickups? And also where did you get the plans from. I'd be interested in experimenting with building one of these guitars some day
  22. with the pickguard why don't you make a nice clear one out of acrylic? It will protect the guitar but you will still be able to see the wood underneath!
