  1. What I saw was like on those Ryan guitars, but even bigger. Those do look REAL good though!! EDIT: maybe not for 7000$
  2. For that 1 piece top you have left, I vote for a doublecut!!! Anyways, Great work myka!!
  3. I don't think an ashdown or a mesa would quite fit for a jobless 16 years-old guy's budjet
  4. I saw Crate's VTX amps have a kinda 'tone' control called shape for their lead channel, instead of 3 band EQ. Their description of what it does is this: Would there be any way of implempting that into a guitar? I'm thinking that would be a pretty cool thing. Thanks!
  5. I'm finding the celestions costy because of shipping... Living in Canada isn't always fun!! Maybe I could find a place where they sell it here... Anyone knows of Transparence? I'm wondering if there's any of their loudspeakers (http://www.tr.ca/loudspeaker/loudspeakers/...oudspeakers.htm) usable for guitar?
  6. almost ANY tube amp should have enough volume for most stuff... If you need more volume, you're probably gonna mic it and run it through a PA system lol...
  7. I'd love it if someone could build something like a guitar I saw somewhere on the net... Really cool stuff... Basically it was an acoustic with an armrest... It was actually a 'bevel' cut in the top and side of the guitar wich the hole has been replaced by a piece of wood (i think it was Koa)... Giving you a nice armrest I'd like to see someone try that!
  8. AHHRG I'M BLIND!!! So much bling bling lol seriously really great work... That must be SO much work! Very nice work!!!
  9. What if I don't wanna ruin myself? Are carvin's own speakers any good?
  10. "Simon & Patrick, Seagull" - both Godin compagnies I think that (good) affordable acoustics are much more common than electric guitars... I think it's a bit stupid as they require more work but hey... (guess electrics need more hardware so that could be it.)
  11. Seems it uses Celestion Vintage 30s in the cabs... I was considering those as they're 60w... Now I do wonder where I could find one
  12. Is it chambered between neck and bridge? I'd think so, because a guitar teacher I know has one and it actually produces acoustic sound... Not so much but still enough to make me think it's fully hollow
  13. I guess it's pretty much like talking about what "tone" is for an electric guitar... Everyone will like something different... The problem is there's not much different around to have different sounds in acoustic guitars... Most poeple don't even know what braces are, so big compagnies have no reason to try different things if what's there sells The bracing is a very big part of an acoustic guitar's sound and so is the top material. I think wood's really great as a top material (then again, not all woods... Though experimentation can yeild really different and nice results) but I also think the current bracing and sound-hole system is simply overbuilt! Now again, it seems the general concensus that a dreadnought with X-bracing is your "standard" guitar sound... What if you want something else? You can always change the shape of the body (jumbos), but it doesn't change the sound enough for me... The volume is louder and the sound has a little more bass but that's about it. So I tryed an ovation (korean model with a laminate top, mind you) and fell in love with it. I've had many comments and it seems poeple either really like it or really dislike it, but I don't care... It's the guitar sound *I* like
  14. The amp is a Crate Blue Voodoo 60w It's a good 2 channel tube amp with a bright switch on the clean channel and a boost switch on the distortion ( basically changing the sound from vintage to metal) The reason I wanna change the speaker is that on Harmony-central, many reviews said the amp did not sound as good as the head model (with the same circuit) that had better speakers in the cabs... And i'm pretty sure the amp has potential to get an even better sound out of it The sound I want... I'd say that i'd like a metal sound (something like a mesa) but I still wanna be able to do your basic rock sound (mostly Pink Floyd) I wouldn't mind to loose some high (VERY bright amp! At least on the clean channel!) Thanks!! EDIT: Almost forgot!! It's an open back amp!
  15. I really think the basic idea is really great... Love to see different things comming up. BUT this one, it really seems to me like it's over-complicated... There has to be a way to make the idea simpler! I'm not saying you haven't spent countless hours designing it and such, because it seems you have, but I think that it could work with much less moving parts, and therefore a much smaller cost. Anyways, congratulations for all your hard work, and I hope you'll be able to sell at least a few!
  16. Hey! I have a very nice tube amp here oh wich i'd like to change the speaker... It's a 60w 112 combo tube amp and sounds really good... It's versatile as hell. Now, i'd like to change the speaker but i don't know what to change it too... I heard Eminence is good? I'd like something not too costy and that has high sensitivity (dB/W). Also, I was wondering if it's a good idea to have a speaker close to my amp's power? Should I look for a 60w speaker or does a 100w speaker work equally well (or better?) Anyways thanks!
  17. God. I can hardly believe that's an inlay! It looks like a painting/drawing!! You're a VERY talented artist yknow... It's really astounding. Great work !
  18. What I think is one of the bad points of your regular dreadnought guitar is the sheer quantity of bracing near the sound hole... Since the sound hole is right in the middle of the guitar, scrapping any structural integrity, it needs all the bracing else it wouldn't work... Then, what about ovations? By placing the soundhole nearer to the sides of the guitar, there's no need to brace them at ALL... Here's one of their bracing patterns: Also, that's without talking about the Adamas line... Carbon replaces wood for the top leaving with almost NO need for braces while reducing the top's weight and size... Plurists won't like the idea of not having wood, but still... I guess that if poeple actually buy those at their 2k$ price point, they must be at least somewhat good lol
  19. What's that installing this trem on Vai's guitar?? http://www.geocities.com/jbstratman/Flo2after.jpg Didn't Ibanez say anything?
  20. the Pattern kit with that rotary thingie looks real interesting for shaping bodies!!!!
  21. Ok, i'll do as if I haven't heard that... Anyways, only Vai song I can play (so it should be like... VERY easy) is called Sisters
  22. Personally, i'd vote against an outboard preamp... You'd want to lower your piezo impedance (VERY high) before running it in any cables longer than like 1'.
  23. Al Di Meola anyone? Shred on an acoustic (faster than your normal shred actually) Try to find Mediterranean Sundance... Stupidly fast stuff!!! Anyways... I say acoustics are great but I wouldn't live without both electric and acoustic guitars... Just different music!!
  24. Hell I don't either! Kirk Hammet would probably be in my top 3 worst tones ever!!!
  25. Hamer SATF? How good is it? Isn't that an import model?
