    what i would do is: 1. dye black and sand off to make the grain pop 2. get a heat gun that used to take off paint, it works pretty good for burning 3. spray finish done

    http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...=magma&st=0 that's a link to a magma color that has 3d quilt. but for yours, stain from dark to light. start with black to bring out the grains and then sand back. There's a lot of tutorials so just look at them to get an idea.

    i just got a beater rg270(from 1997) for 100 bucks and made it a jem. don't relly know about the second part. what i can say is when i scalloped the frets afterwards the neck looked dull. To remedy that i just sanded it with 1200 grit and threw some lem oil on it. i'll throw a pic of the inlays up later.

    i scalloped frets 21-24 on my ibanez rg. it had those triangle inlays, i did a full scallop and they were still there. I'd say scallop it and if it looks like it's going to go through just stop. It doesn't take that much to get that effect.

    that finish doesn't look that hard, i have an esp viper with the same deal. just dye it black then sand off the parts you want to see the flame top (somewhat of a burst) then clearcoat it. i'd say if you have the tools go for it. PS i think this site has pretty much everything you need to know about what you want to do.

    i gave the guy the model number of the guitar and he made a pickguard. I don't really know what that means if you could elaborate or tell me what to do. EDIT: i just looked up direct mount pickups and i think that might be the case, which sucks. Know i think im just gunna install the pickups then cut out the pickguard so it will fit around unless there's a better course of action. these are the pickups i have, they don't say if theyre direct mount or not, the originals that came with the guitar def aren't. http://cgi.ebay.com/DiMarzio-Steve-Vai-Iba...93%3A1|294%3A50

    i got this pickguard for an ibanez rg. when i got it i can't figure out if i can install my pickups. I've never seen a pickguard like this. the guys that made it were huge tools. The pickguard is the same shape as the pickup holes in the guitar and the only way i can attached them is to screw on top of the pickguard. I'm thinking of sawing off the corners so i can fit the pickups through the guard. These pics should explain everything.
