  1. did you BM that yourself or did it come like that for the quarter? p.s. - that top would NOT look like that if *I* - or another lesser finisher - finished it. just sayin......
  2. Weren't you the one who made the explorer from a carving found at a junk store? Guilty as charged ^^ not a bad body for $20........ I think that top will make a fine looking guitar if you play your cards right.
  3. ...and thats the important part. I once saw a guitar in a shipping pallet. ( Pine and poplar ) keep your eye on the prize, you'll get there.
  4. Phil X is awesome.... If you want true 70's rock sounds, get 70's equipment. End of story. I have a '68 Heath combo amp ( 2x12 ) and it has the original reverb tank and tremolo system. Instant surf sounds out of it. Its hard to do anything BUT clean tones or wet surf tones. It does distortion o.k., but it has to be from a pedal or a preamp. You're getting modern tone out of modern equipment. understandable. My advice is to definitely switch your amp. A Marshall will get you real close to the versatility you're looking for. Pricey, but good.
  5. To be honest,if it had turned out not "goatish" enough,I was prepared to name it "The Bearded Cow" "Bearded Cow Guitars"...not bad... Really????Someone had to say it I guess :D yeah, I couldn't resist, plus it fit. bearded cow. Thats funny right there.
  6. This is an excellent build ! I love the look of it , I imagine it plays like a dream. Good work !
  7. I like the newer version. The other one did look bovine-ish , but I didn't wanna be all rude n shiss just bust in with 'your goat looks like a cow!' , but i do like the new one. Not too baa-aa-aad. ........
  8. Dammmm sam. Nice work there Wez. Thats the coolest little guitar ever.
  9. wow..... ummm. o.k. how bout this: What type of fretboard did you use? what size are your frets? what type of inlay material did you use? Pot type/values? bridge by ??? whats the scale length? why aluminum? Also - you "designed, made and assembled" your pups? Sure you didn't just 'purchase' them? Around here we see everything from hand made tremolo's and tuners to hand made pups, right down to hand made bobbins for those pups. GFS are not a great brand of pickup in my opinion. Sound clips? Telling me you're going to be in magazines and out on tour doesn't tell me squat about your guitar. So: info??? Specs?? Details? More than one picture?
  10. Welcome. Generally people post up specs to their builds, even hobbyists like myself. Body type, neck type, scale length, bridge type, pups, neck join, more than one picture, etc. Share the info. All I have is a single picture and the knowlege that its aluminum. Not enough info for my tastes....... Although the link to your commercial website was loud n clear - hence the spam judgement. I like the concept of the build - there was just a post up of a solid-bodied aluminum and as you know, Kramer started using aluminum back in the 70's in their necks. Alternative materials are cool - I'd just like you to give up some more info other than "here's my website" .
  11. Indeed! Thats some BIG slab o' wood too. whats the moisture content?
  12. but they say the 335 was deemed 'unusable' by the owner until the installation. Now its his go-to guitar. sounds like a win.
  13. Not too hard to find wood where they have pallets of it stacked up and ready for consumption , eh??
  14. Thats just awesome. I love the whole idea. Thanks for posting that.
  15. John, thanks for pointing out the balloon-knot shoulder thing he has. Thats just awesome. Make an arm-fall-off guitar with removable attachments that can be a Corvus, or get bolt-on attachments to take on different forms, a super-guitar. Just don't make the joints look like a butthole. :/
  16. How about making thick ones and slicing 'sets' out of the thick stock? ......... would make it easy to grab a spare should something happen to one while fretting.....
  17. Very Jazz-Bass-ish. Classic and clean. I like it.
  18. Considering that I'm a comic book junkie to begin with, that would be pretty sweet. Thats what made me bring it up. You remember the Comicaster? I could see an Incredible Hulk Corvus........ put in a hot humbucker with a coil-cut and use it in single coil mode. Until it gets ANGRY! lolz....... then kick in the bucker and shred! wo0t. Just throwin stuff out there... Wez - as usual , cool pics for ideas from you - love the individual pups. wonder what some piezo's under the fretboard at the 24th fret or so would sound like? Hmmmmmm......
  19. John - I got two words for ya : Cloth-covered-comic-inspired Corvus.( A comic book T-shirt should do the front and back. ) and Wez..... do it up! What kind of pickups would you use ,conventional or piezo?
  20. sure about that - they certainly designed it at the same time but definitive proof of a 58 moderne is hard to come by - and gibbons aint sharing! i still want to do the elegant bowable fretless bass i designed last time we went all corvus mad - it will happen! Thats cool. It looks like the Gene Simmons axe-bass raped a Corvus and had a bastard lovechild.......
  21. Nice, but it seems more like a spam AD than an introduction. No specs other than Aluminum. *yawn* NEXT!
