  1. Very entertaining and thorough build! I like the guitar too How'd you come up with the superjig? Did you make it from scratch, or did you buy certain products that just happen to fit together and work correctly for this application? [edit] nvm, I read through it again! Good stuff!
  2. He could have saved 15% if he switched to Geico.
  3. Now that I can see how it all works, I really like this! I kinda want one, lol
  4. I think a good solution for the mentioned problems mentioned in Our Souls's post would be to address the depth of the neck pocket, and see if there's any angle needed to compensate after. From the discription of the problem, it appears that no neck angle is needed, as the action is too low. I would route out the neck pocket so the neck sits lower in its slot. That way, you can keep the bridge that you're in love with, and the guitar keeps the charm that you like about it
  5. The only thing I don't like about bloodwood is working with it. Maybe its how I sharpen my handplanes, but bloodwood always seems to want to tear, chip and catch, no matter which direction I go in. And if i find a good direction, it changes 1/4 the way down the length of the blank. Doesn't happen to me with most other woods (maple, birch, mahogany, bubinga, purple heart, etc.)
  6. I have a setup sort of like wes's, only without the amp. I have 2x6.5" monitor speakers on either side of an ipad doc. Good times are had!
  7. meh. You have to buy that little plug in thing for $30. I have Pocket Amp. its wayyyyy better, because it uses your actual music library, and it doesn't have a bunch of sales driven features built into it. I did like the multitrack recording feature that amplitube had though
  8. Makes sense. I use them when i level off epoxy, or any large buildups/runs before I apply my final coat/2nd or 3rd to last coat.
  9. I vote when I want, for who I want regardless of location, luthier, or thread count
  10. Its all so pretty, I just have to review! Kuns LPC - Aside from the orange peel on the headstock, the overall attention to detail on this makes me want to hang it on the wall and not let anyone touch it, but then take it down and play it myself. I would call this guitar my baby MKM Custom - This guitar is way more my style. I'm not too crazy about white guitars, ...i just noticed that it has 2 bridges. Odd. I like it with the wrap-around more. The tail piece makes it work Hufschmid H8 Baritone - This is a beautiful instrument! I think an 8 string is a little too much for me. I like the exposed tuners. It adds to the mechanical/earthy mix vibe that this guitar gives off. Good stuff! Mr Blue Bigsby - This reminds me of psw's tele only without all the flash... even though it obviously has some flash I'm totally diggin the side position markers along the fretboard. I don't know how i feel about the black string trees though... although I see the point with the tuning issues. That's a very small thing to complain about on any guitar though Stagolee - Very um... rusty! The Moon - This is another very pretty tele! I love when people show off the versitility of the tele body by adding a creative f-hole. The 5 ply binding is very sweet, and I love the inlay! The headstock is a perfect match to the body. Very nice! Junkyard Dog - 8 string lap steel huh? I'd like to give that a shot sometime very clean looking work! 7 string thingy - I'm looooving the artwork on this! The headstock's a little wonky to me, but it does match the star-trek theme. SS - I don't know what I like more, the back or the front! Even the floyd cavity is flamed and finished. I bet this one plays very fast! 3dognate - Very nice clean work! I don't know how I feel about the fretboard contrast to the body, but I can't complain about any of the craftsmanship. Good stuff! stereordinary - I think I would have liked to see a matching headstock color. Overall, the theme of the guitar with the curves, and the bevels is very nice though! Scattervarius - I liked this one the most this month. The only thing I would change about it would be the headstock. I would have used a classical style headstock with standard metal tuners with black heads, and I would have had the scroll face back like a violin or cello. Other than that, the only thing it needs is fine tuners on the tail piece! This is a beautiful instrument, and it makes me want to make one! Awesome job!
  11. *waiting for a "here's yer sign' joke* Thanks Ammie according to the ebay listing it measures 6"x6"x20" and yeah ist soft but it should be oke for a set of wings or if im really careful and imaginative a top. but i still need to get a few tools befor i can put it too use its cool though the listing said its still green so it may take a while befor i ever do any thing with it. ... I don't get it
  12. Just like Japan, you would never know it today. I... Can't go much further without ignorantly profiling half my country
  13. You know the south lost, right? Like over 100 years ago
  14. I'm sure you know, but I meant absolutely no harm from the last post. I'm always a little extra critical of your work because of your abilities. I really do like this build a lot
  15. I can kinda see where the imperfections are in the artificial binding there. Little waves and peel marks here and there. I'm assuming these pics were taken before you cleaned it up with the blade?
  16. No one else seems to have a problem with this... so I give up. proceed. he isnt changing the scale of the neck he is changing the scale of the body. he had to remove the last frets so the neck would work with the pickup routing. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
  17. No one else seems to have a problem with this... so I give up. proceed.
  18. so... your intonation... isn't... going to be off? This is screwing with my career lol. I could have sworn that fret spacing would be different between a 25.5" and a 24.75". I guess its a lot more noticable on a bass. I had a customer with a neck for a 37" scale on a body made for a 36", and he was complaining about intonation issues. Come to think of it... the solution was to chop off the last few frets... and it did intonate properly after... I need sleep... or advil.
  19. Wes has a build thread! :popcorn Im assuming you did some kind of refret or refretboard somewhere... As shortening the scale length doesn't result from cutting the last two frets off. I'd say +1 to the burst idea, but then the black binding wouldn't happen. And I'm guessing you really want to have black binding.
  20. Koelker: Welcome to the forum! Interesting take on the Iceman idea/shape. Feral Smurf: Very pretty pink swirl! I would have liked a pic of the front of the headstock, or a full front shot though. Osorio: Welcome to the forum! I like your take on the KL explorer. The logo, and the top are admirable. Brutal-lv: uhm... I'm not offended, but I really don't know what to say about this, other than "I don't like it." geekmorris: Welcome to the forum! Your guitar brings back a lot of memories, as I used to have a classical that looked a lot like this one. I like the animals around the soundhole. Avengers: Welcome to the-- oh wait. I saw this, and I have seen many like it come into my shop. You captured what I consider to be the vintage quality of older firebird models. The only thing I don't like is the chicken knob. This one got my vote. It may not be the prettiest one there, but it does have my favorite "theme" to it. I don't know if the binding goes with the guitar too well, but I do like the whole thing overall. Strandberg: I LOVE your guitars You'll be getting an email from me soon about building one! Scott French: That is a very sexy single cut! I'd own it. Ragasguitars: Woah... that's thin. Is it stable? Is it microphonic with the stainless steel fingerboard? I heard that a lot of metal in guitars can do that. Headstock's a little big. Lotsa newbies this month. I would like to see some build threads in future builds from you guys!
  21. Do it! If this thing came into my shop it would be a dream come true!
