  3. If the scale is 34" then it will never be less than that so put the saddles just on the mark or just a little behind it.
  4. I dont know what my favourite is, i haven't tried every possible combo! I current have my neck and middle on one tone and the bridge pickup on the other tone with a 5 way. I fancy the 3 way switch with the ability to dial in the middle thou. sound cool BTW That little killin me emoticon gets me everytime!
  5. Like 5 watts i enough ansil one of those P! extreme kits looks cool.
  6. Not that i like the SC but its better than a LP and a win for the consumer and common sense. Me thinks..............
  7. I can read basic schematics and i can solder well and have made small electronic projects in past, i wouldn't say hell yea i can build a tube amp,but i can try.The reason i like the look of a kit is that i don't wanna spend most of my time hunting for components and actually fancy a little tube amp for the house, i know its not cheap just like building guitar isn't gonna save you money soi m guessing it gonna cost $500 to get it finished inc speaker/cab etc.
  8. Anyone had a go at building one of these? http://www.ax84.com/dp.php?pg=home I had a good look at pauls site http://www.diyguitarist.com/ and was blown away with what he has done, but has anyone specificaly build one of these. What sort of skills/knowledge would you need? Seems like a great wee amp for the house and a great project to keep you busy in the winter EDIT: check this too http://www.freewebs.com/grangeomatic/index.htm
  9. Hayden amps are what used to be ashdown. Those little essex amps are getting some great reviews, the 8 watt retails €999 but u could get one for around €800.
  10. Thats the basis for a very strong neck, a 3 piece laminate neck is always gonna be stronger that a 1 piece mahogany. I also like the way it looks.
  11. Not that the proportions are wrong, but its difficult for guitar with fingerboards that wide to look "right" when we are so used to lookin at 6 stringers. Almost the way a 6 string p bass would look wrong. Nice Work!
  12. A sonex isn't a Gibson imo its a POS. You would be better of getting a epiphone neck. I have had 2 in my hands and one was a horrible player and the other one had a twisted neck which made it a horrible player too, sounded ok though.
  13. It needs a re-fret imo. I'm sure you could manage it.
  14. Box wood would also be suitable, this is like ebony for texture but white.
  15. Do you get rosewood in africa? Ron thorn had a guitar with a white rosewood finger board. here is it. http://www.thornguitargallery.com/navajo.htm
  16. Ive tried this little epi http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?Produc...CollectionID=13 and i thought it was really good, not the best cleans but nice when up loud and driven, also this little laney is good too http://www.guitarstrings.co.uk/search_details.asp?ID=1545
  17. You have to give credit to this guy, if indeed he did sell it. Legal or not his BS seems to wash with people just like Ed roman has over the years (back when his site was interesting and not like everone elses) and yea just turn the screwdriver reeeeal slow and a set up can take months. :D
  18. In the UK teak is not really available to buy anymore, its too expensive! People hoard it. Maybe sell what you got and buy more suitable woods for your guitar build. Teak can be used as it is stable, strong and about the right weight and takes an good finish.
  19. Just listen to recent Vai. Thats what it sounds like.
  20. I have a bad horsie 2 and i love it. You cant get that whack-a-whacka sound like u can with a crybaby, but how often do u play the shaft tune? Its much smoother sounding and has a more useful range, espec with the 2 version.
  21. I reckon 35mm would be the minimum possible with wood, Is it bolt on or set neck?
  22. I would say look at the Gibson J45 and the Guild GADJF30 if u like the J200 thing. The guild is beautiful. http://guitarstrings.co.uk/info.asp?show=gibsonacoustic http://www.guitarstrings.co.uk/search_details.asp?ID=2209
  23. Perry that wall looks like summit out of cell block H
