  1. Eh!? Marshall are made in th UK. Always have been. I dont know what to say.
  2. Tonight i got the fingerboard taper done, i used a little jig i made to keep it all straight, see the link at the bottom of the page to see it. you can see some maple binding at the side that i dont know if i should use on this build. Opinions? I cant seem to find out much about the standard or excepted way to do it, maybe its just not clear to me! Anyone got pics of there jigs or methods?
  3. Cheers Jason, i just got some limba from rich, beautiful! here is a pic. It just suck that i cant get it locally or even nationally!
  4. i was orignally going to use maple for the main part of the neck but thing Craft Supplies didnt have any so i ordered Pau ferro, this arrived and it was shaped like a banana! So i now need to get some other stuff. Any you UK guys know of anywhere else than i can call up and order neck laminates?
  5. If you are making it then dont cut the neck pocket as deep as the plans says. Undercut it by a 1/16 and it should be fine. If you are using a pre made body and neck then it might not need shimed at all, but i have just used a little piece of veener at the back of the pocket to acheive a little angle on the neck.
  6. Those things in the JMP are sort of not pots anyway, more rotary controllers. Use servisol or other normal contact cleaner. The stuff you using is to heavy duty, use it on your starter motor or something.
  7. Yea they do make "lefty" staggard 6 inline set sets, i guess i could just buy a normal and lefty set and make 2 sets up. I have broken so many indivdual sperzels over the years, mostly from using heavy strings. The biggest the take is a 0.056 i had to open the holes up on the low string to use a 0.060.
  8. I wish they made a staggered 3x3 set. I dont know how useful they would be i think i might need them for my Project. Cheers for the info Frenzy.
  9. Its those saddles that cause alot of problems, put a proper grove in them so that the strings have proper take off point, it solves all the buzzing problems. See if it possible to fit a tuneomatic type bridge to it. That type of trem will never be very good.
  10. In the past i have use a round fine 1\4 "rat tail file" to reshape them and then some fine wet and dry paper round a piece of dowel to polish them up. Its easy
  11. Yea thats what i need to do, but the question was more of a how do you make sure everything is square and what is the best way to actually cut it?
  12. Right i am just about ready to taper my fretboard to its near finished size but i cannot think of the best was to measure it all out make sure it is all square, remember this is my first build and i need help?! This is my project http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=17137 I have a router , 18inch straight edge and 8inch square that i can use, i know this has been covered before but i couldn't find exactly what i was after. Check the specs i will be using before you post. Cheers Guys.
  13. Thats kinda what to expect for a gibson to be honest. There is supposed to be a gap/strip of maple between the cutaway and the top at the horn of the new LP. Go try another one and it will have very similar flaws.
  14. It not worth making a USA guitar thats not available for sale in the US. Thats why they stopped making them altogether.
  15. Cheers for straightning out the battery thing. Beasts are cool, its just a shame most are painted black! Well done
  16. Where in ireland are you? I cant think of any online shops that do schaller parts, contact the distributor for the UK. they will help you. http://www.stentor-music.com/stentor%20contact.html i have a look about for ya.
  17. It shouldn't effect the performance as long as it is still doing its job, which is making sure the string block clamp is kept in tension so that the fine tuner doesnt move about. Schaller make every spare part available very easily, any shop that sells schaller tuners etc will be able to get the part for you. They are very cheap to replace.
  18. Im using wenge in my first guitar. It a neck thru too. here its it, well not yet! http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...37&hl=gemleggat
  19. Im sure thats the same pups that came on the Lite ash strats early this year, i remeber them being very bright and 50's sounding.
  20. PRS cannot sell Tremonti's or singlecuts in the UK. The last Tremonti i tried to order for a customer was sent back to the US because Mark Tremonti wanted it!!!
  21. Nice one RGGR, could you tell me how deep the neck blank is? what size were the laminates to start with?
  22. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_suppl...es.html#details
  23. Post you a pic with a coin as or something as size reference for the threads, there is a clear difference between US and Mexican. They are exactly the same as normal US strats. Have you looked in the hole to see if the spring is there? There is a little black spring in there that may have be dislogged and is preventing the arm going all the way in.
  24. One thing about the Voodoo matt is that it gets really shiny very quickly from contact from clothing etc. I'm sure its just because of the finish gibson use. They look more satin than matt when u see them in person. I have seen loads of Voodoo that are a few weeks old and they are shiny where your arm rests.
  25. I think its really nice, i dont know why some are giving you a hard time. Could you explain the battery situation? I know some active pups can use 9 or 18 but i wasnt aware that emg's could.
