  1. +1 If you wanna do some high speed sanding just get a dremel type tool with some sanding drums, they are very versatile little tools...
  2. I will second everything Matt just said, combo pack + dewalt = perfect.. if it helps i bought a maktec (makitas budget brand) mt360 and its great especially for the money ive used alot of makita routers and for the money they are excellent. hope your new router works great.. danm i love routers best tool ever invented.
  3. oi man that thing is Sex..... i love it... the v idea of black paint sounds alright sorta what i was thinking of doing before i scraped my neck... yeah.... i dunno about the 350 logo kinda makes me think of cars why dont you do like you signature thatd look great...
  4. well im scared but the good thing about that is i will take extreme amounts of time checking details so i dont think i will go wrong with too many things.. the neck blank cost me nothing, a friend got it for me from fiji from his dads saw mill lol... i cut some of the blank off for repairs on my guitar... can you tell me if i would still be able to use it with the measurements in the pic below...should it be right for a scarf and a tenon...?
  5. Erik i think i may just make a new neck since im looking for a decent sized volute... and ive got the wood sitting here too... all i need is a rasp and a half round file and i will get started.... where could i get my blank cut for me on a table saw?? what kinda shops have that service.... also does anyone know where i can get someone to bend some 5mm thick metal into some aqward shapes? Setch: i was sanding with a 100mm long block with sandpaper stapled tight to it.. danm i hate and love my problem... it lets me make a neck for the first time but it makes me have to make one
  6. I dont know if this can be fixed easily but i want to find out so im asking you guys. I recently took my old pos fretboard off my les paul and while taking the binding off it took a bit of wood of on the edge of the neck.. When i had cleaned up the neck after the fretboard was gone i put some wood filler in the chip and then let it dry for a bit then i sanded it back to the shape of the neck and now ive noticed if i look down the neck that there is a slight 1-2mm indent from where i cleaned up the sides, dunno how it got that big becuase i was sanding light as hell and didnt do much of it...the neck was already really thin to play on the high and low e's would fall of the fretboard alot while playing, now im worried its even thinner Help, please.... heres a pic of what i mean if you dont understand. The outline is what it used to be and the other line running inside the outline is what it is now... now that i think of it what if i sanded the top of the neck to much aswell i cant tell but what if i did how could i fix this?
  7. yeah living in aus sucks unless you like silky oak (lacewood) danm i would love to get my hands on some of these pieces.....
  8. why doesnt someone just get a small block of wood bigger than the sunken hole you want, drill a hole through the centre of it the size of the pots shaft or drill bit that you drill the pots holes with then round the block on a lathe, then round one end until it is the shape that you want your pot-hole to be. get some adhesive backed sandpaper and cut it up into strips and glue it to the curved face then cut the sandpaper of that is covering the drill bit hole and stick the bit in and somehow clamp it to the bit....havent thought of how to do that yet.... then drill away and adjust the block so that when your bit goes to a certain depth the block will start sanding away.. keep going until the desired depth is met. hopefully that makes some sence to other people..... and you dont have to make the sanding cylinder thing you can always find something similar like an end of a wooden mop or something and just drill through the centre.
  9. Im pretty sure the model called luxurios is an epiphone with new pups in it, judging by the craptastic finish.
  10. very nice, i have been looking out for pictures from you for a while. Cant wait to see this guitar with neck glued in. keep up the good work.

  14. im going to have to say tele thinline aswell
  15. festool, ive never heard anything bad about them ive only heard good.. if i had the money i would snap one up in a second. If you are using it for a table router i wouldnt suggest it as it would be a waste.... but for hand held use go for it. Ive heard that tritons router is the best for table use. hope your new router works great, i just got my new router 2 days ago, maktec mt360 although its not variable speed its still awesome for the money 200aus
  16. Ormsby Guitars Go to the parts page, then clickon price list then books and plans and it is the second one down Plan - Benedetto Archtop each $65.00 which is 48.1649 USD i am quite sure they ship internationally, should be cheap for a plan aswell. anyways just trying to help.

  20. That step kinda looks like what ive done to mine but mine is like a 3-4mm wide step lol.... so you are alot better off than me headstock looks great... might i ask though, how do you go about making your templates ie.. headstock and what would you do to make them symetrical? also how do you get perfect curves for templates, what is your method? to fix the neck pocket are you going to route the hole pocket to the biggest step and then glue some wood to the side of the pocket then re-route?? hope neck pocket gets fixed, will be waiting for some more pics.
  21. interesting..... may get some of this stuff... thx for the link. This could wreck just about any guitar...
