  1. Not to pull a "none of the above", but realistically, I've heard some awesome things said about the Carvin tube amps.
  2. I'd rather have hitler show up here it would be a great opportunity to vent a little...
  3. Bandsaw would do the trick or a skill saw.
  4. isn't that essentially an active pickup? And what's the point of stripping if you're going to rewind? Other problem: strong magnet= low sustain. It's generally not noticed, but if you're going battery powered, you may well run into some issues.
  5. I didn't know I drove one...
  6. I dunno send it again! If I reply then I got it BTW I get all of his mail too (That Brain guy) whooops... Alrighty, I sent it both to the hotmail and universaljems addresses.
  7. Brain... I'd like to get in on this (I believe we discussed this...). Did you get my last email?
  8. well, go plant your foot in their backside and tell 'em you need it so you can browse these boards more!
  9. ummm yeah. I know about scale length, and I'm probably going to place the bridge after I get the neck set up (the routing has a higher f-up potential with less recourse than screwing in a bridge).
  10. OK, this is what I was looking for. BTW, I'm not turning an RG into a JS, I just have the body outline (and all the wood I need). The JS blueprint's nice, but unless I can really compare it to an RG or print it off, it really doesn't do me much good... So just shorten, fatten up, and round off the horns? Thanks, Jer.
  11. For a JS type guitar, I can't seem to track down a .033 mf cap readily, would a .047 work? What would be the effect?
  12. Ok, I'm in the process of building an axe that's turning into something like the JS-6 (the oiled mahogany hardtail model). I have an RG, and can trace the body design, and I have the Jem blueprints from Jemsite, but I don't have any access to these things for a JS type guitar. My question is this: what alterations do I need to make to an RG type to convert it to an S? What curves need to be increased/reduced? Obviously the lower (and probably upper) horns need to be softened, but what else needs to be done? Thanks.
  13. Good point. Swedish fish are excellent.
  14. I didn't need to know that. Thanks for sharing.
  15. The one on Stewmac is a push-pull, 500K dpdt (I'm pretty sure). The on/on means it's a straight toggle between two positions (what you need for phase switches, coil taps, etc., and is probably what you're looking for). I've never seen a rotary DPDT for sale...
  16. you can just build a new one from the tutorials!
  17. USA rocks, although it does breed some real assholes, but ya gotta balance the ups and downs. I like it here. Now, will someone help me fit my tongue back into my mouth? I'm drooling like a faucet here.
  18. Bastards... well, upgrades are always nice. Thanks Brian!
  19. I thought it was the other way around.... 500 for the humbucker...
  20. get rid of the two tone knobs? They can function with the push-pull function, you know... Stewmac.com carries 'em. Use 500K if you have humbuckers (I think...).
  21. Yes he speaks the truth... and JS's are really made of bondo. Bullshit. I would attribute the price drop more to the supply/demand curve Ibanez is running, and to the economy. Lets face it: you can't sell the same products for the same prices during a recession. As for the 90% thing, that runs true for nearly any product you buy. The only thing I really agree with Ed on is chain stores. All else seems to be the ranting of a pissed-off bitter jackass.
  22. Of those listed, SRV. But this is really begging for flame-war action...
  23. Oh schwing! That looks amazing, Jer. What's engraved on the trem cover?
  24. ok, so... so far two votes for direct-mounted, and none for the rings. Anyone else?
