  1. Depends what you want to play... I dropped one in my last axe, and am quite pleased with it.
  2. That would scare the crap outta me... but excellent work.
  3. The amount you would pay for a full setup would be significantly less than a new neck... and from what you're saying, I'm guessing it can be set up.
  4. Well, as you've probably discovered, it depends on the brand of the neck. Carvin uses a tilt-back, Fender doesn't... I'm not so sure about other brands: you'll have to check individually.
  5. Wes, if you really need to clean the fretboard, I usually find that simply popping the trem out is far easier than trying to restring one...
  6. That's what I did for my first... the other thing you could try is to use a French curve.
  7. If you're going to try it, you might give Duplicolor's instant chrome finish a shot. It's not real chrome, mind you, and I don't know how well it will work, but it'll certainly be far easier than trying to electroplate a piece of wood. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/gold-chrome.html

  9. Brian's got some strat and tele style necks for excellent pricing. If that doesn't do anything for you, your next best bet is probably Carvin.
  10. Same here, and now I'm curious as to what he's talking about....
  11. Ok, I just gotta wonder: who's the screwball who actually voted for the wangcaster?
  12. I've done it with tape, and I hope never to have to again.
  13. a gain stage is the part of the circuit with the tube/opamp/transistor that actually amplifies the sound. Usually in a distortion pedal you'll see a few of them linked together to add more gain to the sound. In an amplifier, you see quite a few of them. I wish I could explain it better than that, but my verbal skillz aren't that mad...
  14. I've done that one before. Personally, I like the Dimarzio clip-locks. Absolute security.

  16. A coil tapped humbucker uses only one of the two coils, like a single coil (though a tapped humbucker won't sound exactly like a single coil).
  17. what happened to number five? thats a thumb.... smartass... I got thrown by the "on that hand" bit...
  18. Could one of you guys be bothered to do a tutorial on using blades for polishing? I'm really quite interested.
  19. Just simply my opinion, but I'd take the Marshall. A friend of mine has one, and it's a pretty damn nice amp.
  20. I like the design- it's unique and attention getting, and the catchphrase is pretty good as well. I like it.
