  1. Yeah, like I wanna deal with that troll.
  2. It's been a while since I had a guitar with a TOM but, don't those just screw out?
  3. Is it possible to make a fretboard out of poplar? I mean, I know it is possible but is it practical? will it just fall apart or anything? Thanks for any information.
  4. I just forstner bit out the neck pocket, the n clen up with a router.
  5. Dead mike made a guitar with cross grain, PM him and ask him how it is holding up.
  6. I always liked the body style and I thought it was cool just "extreme" but the more I look at it the more practical-looking it gets. I love that graphic on back, it's great.
  7. http://www.guitarbuildingtemplates.com/PRS24.htm This will make EVERYTHING easier, always use templates, always always.
  8. How can Carvin afford to sell OFRs for $180?
  9. Wow.... That was um... horrifyingly bad. My god, what a name for a song.
  10. Let me know how that 27" scale works out, When I build an 8 it'll be fanned 24.75" to 27".
  11. Not really the "next" level. Pretty much an adjacent level.
  12. I shim with what BC Rich and other manufacturers shim with, heavy grit sand paper, a little piece of 50 or sixty in the pocket and you're good to go.
  13. some one here did a yamaha mod and took off the last....I want to say 10 frets for "experimental soloing". No good or bad really but from what I hear the fretboard needs to be precisely radius sanded, moreso than if it were fretted. I think I've also heard that it sounds like you're always playing with a slide, if that makes any sense. Good luck.
  14. Does it really need to be that exact?
  15. I'd say hanging, then you can do the whole body each coat and it'll be more even. There really is no such thing as "too many coats".
  16. They have those same straps, mad out of leather...
  17. I don't mean to hijack (well, not for long any way) but I was thinking of making an 8 string and I was going to make it a fanned fret after hearing about brian's misfortune with the F# string not being able to intonate. Any way, If you do make it fanned fret, where do you find a fanned bridge? Is it possible just to put the 8 string bridge at a bit of an angle so you have more room to try to intonate the F#?
  18. What happened by those top ferrules? looks like replaced a chunk.
  19. On second thought, that may be a bad idea, if you play metal and you circular headbang you may just run your head into a Jackson headstock. Which would in fact kill you instantly. "Good God, what happend to his head?!" "It was a Jackson, doctor. Six in line."
  20. Looks like a standard 6 screw vintage tremelo, aka strat tremelo. Fairly inexpensive to get.
  21. If you have long hair you could to the circular headbang, that's always a crowd-pleaser.
  22. Sort of amazing how much that 1/16th of an inch can bother some people.
  23. Never tried this but I think it would work: Take a box cutter/razr blade and trace the routing template, pierce the finish, cut as deep as you can. then when you start routing if the finish pops off, it'll only pop off to where you have already cut.
  24. If I remember correctly, he said something like "I did all the research to figure out that a XX.xx headstock angle is best" I could be wrong, as usual
