  1. I can't see, hand crafting making that much of a difference on the cost of a guitar, 500 or 600 bucks maybe, possibly more, but not a $3000 difference. Also, the KE-3 comes in those kick ass swirl finishes. Aaron
  2. B.B. King's Lucille is a Gibson 345 without F-holes, only with a fine tuning tail piece. Aaron
  3. .....speechless, congrats dude, thats a kick ass guitar, love the burst finish, especially on the neck. It gets my vote! Awesome man, Aaron
  4. That looks AWESOME! The quilted maple birds inlay looks great! One thing though, is it just me, or do those tuning machines look really close together? Looks amazing, Aaron
  5. They have that template, along with a few others (pickups) in the book "Make your own electric guitar" By Melvyn Hiscock. I'd email them to you but I don't have a scanner . If you don't have the book, I would suggest getting it anyway, not only for the templates Sorry Aaron
  6. That looks awesome! Thanks for your help, but I changed my body shape to a Les Paul DC junior, the thought of cutting out the Beast body shape scared me. Although, now, seeing how good yours is turning out, I am kinda wishin I stuck with that body shape. Looks great! Aaron
  7. Are you using the "Fuzz Research Labs 1959 LP JR" plans? I'm making by guitar with them (some modifications though, larger scale length, bolt-on neck, different wiring) I was originally going to make a BC Rich Beast style guitar, but the thought of cutting the body shape out scared the sh!t outta me. If these are the plans you are using I would be interested in trading notes with you on it. Aaron
  8. This should help. Hahaha, I think this is exactly what you are looking for....."Getting a glossy PRS-style finish" Aaron
  9. I'll take one too Feylya. snowboarding_stinks@msn.com Thanks Aaron
  10. Hey Brian, I'm starting my first guitar and thought of a good tutorial for you to make on and put it on the main page, it's not actually a tutorial but I think it would help many people out. This being my first guitar, I find that I am stressing out over actually ordering the hardware, am I forgetting something, do I actually need this. On the website, you should have a checklist of things needed for building a guitar. This would make things a lot less stressful and probably more productive for more builders. Just a thought, Aaron
  11. Stewmac wiring Hey, turns out that I didnt get my guitar started tonight because my dad came home from work late and couldn't take me to pick up all of the stuff, sucks i know but it also kinda rocks, u see, i havent thought this through as well as i thought i had...... I need to know which wiring to use for my first project...preferably out of the ones above. What do u guys use? its kind of urgent, as i want to get this guitar started ASAP Thanks for the help, Aaron P.S. Hey cool, i'm a member now, IM NO LONGER A NEWBIE! YAY
  12. Yea I've got that book, and I've also thought through the various specifications u mentioned in your post. I've decided to leave the fretboard blank (no inlays) on this project. I wanna make a guitar that works first, next time we'll try something a little more complex. As i mentioned before, I only have one pickup, so i guess I am allready kinda following the K.I.S.S. method. Aaron P.S. Midway through the guitar, I have a feeling I will be whining to you guys about something I need help with, so be ready.
  13. Hey, I'm starting my first guitar project tonight, and was just wondering if you guys have any last minute advice, stuff like that. It is going to be a BC Rich Beast style guitar, one humbucker in the bridge, volume knob and a mini switch for splitting the humbucker. No prefab here, except for the fingerboard (fret slotting kinda scares me ) Wish me luck! Aaron
  14. Stew-Mac Bridges and tailpieces>Guitar, tremolo>Floyd Rose locking tremolo and parts>Floyd Rose locking tremolo On this particular page, it says that the saddles have a 10" string radius. HOWEVER, in the catalog, as I look at it right now, it says that the saddles on the same bridge (item #1270) have a 14" string radius! CONFUSING! Aaron
  15. Yes actually, that makes a lot of sense ! I'm so stupid!!!! Scale length, I'm such an idiot! Thanks SO much! Aaron
  16. B.C. Rich Beast There its working now, anybody know that measurement?
  17. ****, don't have time right now, i'll fix it later Aaron
  18. B.C. Rich Beast Does anyone know the measurement for the indicated area on that picture? That is the only one I need, knowing that I will be able to easily find out the other dimensions. Aaron
  19. Those are KILLER guitars. Through and through. And I'd prefer almost ANY RG over any JEM, but that's me. It's just a "bang for the buck" thing... ~d~ I can get one of these with a hard case for $749 CAN (approx. $532 USD) is this a decent price? Aaron
  20. Stew mac Truss Rods>Carbon Fiber Neck Rods Can these rods be used to replace a truss rod altogether? with only one(or two) of these? In the description it says that they can be used to supplement an adjustable truss rod, but since it also says that they are stronger than the equivalent volume of steel, doesn't this mean that it can be used as a non-adjustable truss rod, perhaps fill this role better than a steel one? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated Aaron
  21. I was also thinking about this......actually, i dont know how to post pictures so i'll just tell u what it is, an Ibanez RGT42FM, flame maple top, wizard II (neck-thru), edge pro II, what do u guys think? Thanks. Aaron
  22. Stewmac Free info sheets>Reference>Lutherie Schools List Krazy Derek, I was going to go to that school in BC, then I found out it $750 per week, plus it's in BC (I'm in Toronto). They should have more of these schools around..... Aaron
  23. I was just wondering what the average price of a used Ibanez Jem 555 is (canadian dollars if possible) There are a couple on ebay, only the guy says he payed $3000 dollars for it :o ! I'm pretty sure that is not the going price. Thanks for your help. Aaron
  24. Could these be the ones? Some of these are pretty nice.
  25. All of the Ibanez S-Series come with either a 'Wizard' or 'Wizard II' neck, this tends to be a problem for people for people in your case, going from a 'C - Shaped' fender strat neck (i think thats what it comes with) to an ibanez Wizard super thin neck. The new ibanez will probably take quite a bit of getting used to (moreso than other guitars). My first guitar was an ibanez SA160qm (with an SA neck, fatter than wizard) and now, when i play most other guitars, the necks feel huge and bulky. Just something to keep in mind..... Aaron
