  1. Southwest michigan. Thats all I will divulge in a public manner PM if you want more exact location. Set of the black grovers are gone via local sale.
  2. heh, if you're using real tung oil, you're not going to be finished for a LONG time if you do 8 coats lol. Real tung oil takes about 2 weeks to dry!!! Its beautiful finish though...
  3. IN ADDITION: I will also trade for a fret crowing file, or a fancy fret end file. Id trade for a good table router, but thats ridiculous. Unless you live in the south west michigan area.... edit: also if there is no interest for any of this stuff within the week, I will be putting a lot of it on ebay.
  4. LOL! You're absurd haha. Spring for an accurate scale! Its useful for all kinds of things besides weighing guitars. (Spare me drug references please lol)
  5. I want a bandsaw, wife won't get me one, so I need to sell some stuff! Issues will be indicated. Pictures upon request. All prices are fairly firm, and don't include shipping. Discounts for multiple purchases. I will ship over seas, but you will be paying extra cost on shipping. Will be shipped out next day with 2 day shipping if conus. Will use paypal only. I will eat the transfer cost. If you are not comfortable with person to person, I can put on ebay. I have 100% positive feedback over many years. You and I will split the costs however, listing fee, sellers fee, and paypal fee. Wouldn't be too much for most of these parts though. Pickups Ibanez Super 58 Neck - 45 Overall great shape. Dark Chrome color, but has some "normal" chrome bleeding through. Looks good, but not suitable to sell as a "new pickup". To be fair, this pickup is about 30 years old. However you can get a new cover... Ibanez Super 58 Bridge - 45 This one is near mint. Suitable for "new" guitars. Ibanez AH1/2 set - 20 white color, short leads, but if you can solder, thats not an issue. They sound decent, but dont expect high output craziness. IBZ/USA C-1 single coil humbucker - 45. great shape, long leads, black cover, but the logo has long since worn off. IBZ/USA F-2 humbucker - 60 fantastic shape, probably the greatest humbucker ever made. Dimarzio JEM single coil - 30 great shape. Seymour Duncan Invader - 45 like new condition Seymour Duncan JB - 45 like new condition Squier 50th anniv single coil set -> 15 in great shape. Better then pups you'd get in a berhinger or some other low end guitar like that, but nothing to write home about. Duncan Designed Bass pickup (FREE with order over 100$ lol) PARTS Plastic humbucker rings - 4, free shipping Screws -> If you need screws... PM ME! I have 100's of screws from all types of guitars. Price will be cheaper then you'd find elsewhere. Electronic parts -> Again, if you need electronic parts (input jacks, pots, wire, other things) PM me. I have a LOT of stuff. Tuners -> bunch of different types. Grovers, gotohs, all in great shape, but perhaps some slight cosmetic issues. All are 100% mechanically sound. Price varies on what you need. PM me. Ibanez Edge Black - 110 black, in great shape Ibanez Edge Black Chrome - 110 nickel colored, in really good shape, minor pitting, overall good condition. Functionality 100% Ibanez Edge Black Chrome - 60 nickel colored, in... "ok" shape. Mechanically terrific, has a decent amount of corrosion though. Not horrible, but not as good as the others. Ibanez trs-2 - 25 gold colored. in decent enough shape Floyd rose bits -> saddles, blocks, lock blocks, plates, holders, springs, etc, available upon request. Locking nuts -> R3 locking nuts from gotoh, in various colors and most in decent, but used condition. Price will be around 20 bucks each for full set. OTHER Ibanez RG570 block heel neck with no frets, has neck repair, but overall would be a good candidate for a refret and fix up. Maple/rosewood - 40 Ibanez rg550 block heel neck in great shape. Maple/Maple - 130 Ibanez "Pro540" neck (thats whats stamped on it) 22 fret, maple with rosewood, white finish on headstock. Has some superficial cracks, but they don't seem to be very deep. Very stable neck. - 75 due to crack Other stuff available, if you're looking for it, I probably have it layin around! lol
  6. +1 If you're gonna go switches, you can do toggle switches to control each pup, and do a 3 way for the HB. It allows you full control over any pup switching you'd want to do, and looks really clean.
  7. Holy crap that thing just looks incredible man. FANTASTIC work all around. How heavy is that beast lol. Last carbon fiber guitar I did ended up wieghing as much as a les paul lol.
  8. It was indeed a poor choice, but the dimarzio's weren't my cup of tea. I wouldn't be caught dead putting EMG's in a six string, so I never knew they just "fit" right in haha. Good to know!
  9. Six of one, half dozen of the other. I want a bandsaw AND table saw lol. edit: besides, a screw driver can be dangerous if you dont follow safety precautions lol
  10. Wow that wood sounds amazing! why am I just now hearing about it lol Whats the cost on it? "Takes a high natural polish works easily, finishes smoothly, and responds well to hand tools. It glues, nails and screws well, and is rated highly durable. Frequently used for fine furniture and cabinetry, decorative veneers, flooring, musical instruments, turnery, joinery and specialty items such as violin bows and billiard cues Granadillo is an excellent substitute for Rosewood or Cocobolo. It smells like rosewood also."
  11. You really dont need to anneal aluminum though. Its soft enough on its own. Steel though... that would suck so much to manipulate like that lol.
  12. Not really. Its all pretty much obvious. You may want to make sure the EMG's will fit though if you dont want to do routing. I put emgs in an ibanez rg7621, but I had to route out the pup cavities. As far as the battery was going, I was able to put the battery in the control cavity in the back without any modification. As a slight bonus, when I sold it, I put the original pups back in, and it didnt look "wrong".
  13. May be the lighting or my color deficiency kicking in, but that looks REALLY red to me for mahogany not saying its not, just what Im seeing doesnt match up haha.
  14. Unless you have high tech machinery, or patience that rivals Ghandi, go with aluminum sheeting. Its corrosion resistant, shines REALLY nice if you take the time, and will be forgiving/easy to work with. You could make a paper template of the sizes you want, slap it in a vice, use a rubber or brass mallet, and get something that would match your ideal design really easy. Not to mention, if you have a scroll saw and metal cutting blade you can get really intricate with aluminum. For your exact question, no, thats pretty much it lol. Unless you wanted to use stainless or inconel, it would be a relatively easy process.
  15. lmao, I was pm'ing westheman about a build incredibly similar to this! I LOVE IT already! That quilt top looks amazing too, hope everything comes along smoothly as possible. Whats the wood types for the neck? I was thinking about a wenge/bloodwood laminate, but the tones are similar enough. Looks great so far.
  16. This thread reminds me that I desperately need to invest in table router and table saw lol.
  17. I should be more detailed in my questions haha. Thanks for the responses so far. Its a peice of quilted maple, and theres a split running straight up the middle. The top is split completely, but it doesnt go all the way through. It seems like it would be ok for a top for an electric, but i'm not sure if it would be prone to "re cracking"?
  18. I know this is an "older" post, but I just want to clarify whats happening. What you're experiencing is called "60 cycle hum" (or 50 cycle if you are on the other side of the pond). Happens to be nefarious on flourescent lights with ballasts, computer screens, tv's, and in some older houses, the actual wiring in the house. If you listen to an overhead light, you can hear the "buzzing"/"hum" from it. Humbuckers cancel the hum generated in the field they make (Same as two single coils with opposite windings). No pickup cancels out "external" hums, they actually will pick up the noise in proportion to their output (ergo, a humbucker becomes noisier then a single coil). The absolute best way to do this is to shield your pick guard and your guitar body with copper foil tape (best), graphite paint (expensive but easy), or aluminum (cheap fix). I'll spare the details on why this works, unless you wish to know that as well. Cliffs Notes/ TL;DR : Shield your pickup cavity and your guitar body and the noise should be reduced drastically.
  19. Found some awesome woods... but they have splits in them. Would it be viable to finish the split, glue, and go from there? And what would be the best way to "finish" the split all the way through the wood? (pending this is indeed a workable solution). Half my mind says put it in a vice and pull
  20. Id love to know what company ibanez outsources their parts back in the late 80's, early 90's. Everything was so top notch and worked as they should.
  21. Price seems right. I would need to see an itemized list of all parts, and pictures of the stuff I would recieve if that's cool.
  22. Thank you both on the answers for the zero fret thing lol. I like the unique headstock to neck transition as well, thats pretty cool.
  23. Lol now thats a good idea. How long do those last?
  24. If you don't have a spray rig, it may be prudent to take it to someone who does that stuff. An autobody shop would be able to do it with urethane for a modest cost. I'd normally suggest the DIY route, but you spent a lot of money on a swirl job, it would be terrible to potentially ruin it. edit: and yes, nitro paint has a lot of solvents and will eat some types of paint. and "2 Pack" is automotive slang for 2 part paint, not a brand. Others here use it, so I will let them chime in on it.
