  1. Screw sweep picking... I like the way he alternate picks those arpeggios!
  2. Have you cut the body yet? Snork/Nordic had a similar problem... let me find the link: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...?showtopic=4230
  3. I think it'd be harder since the strings go through that block. You'd have to drill those holes out in addition to shortening the block.
  4. That's the exact V-crotch extension I was thinking of! Hmm... it's probably be more properly called a cross-member (I think.)
  5. What do you want to do with the trem? You know the Bigsby will only +/- about half a step? Plus, you'd probably have to add an "extension" in the V crotch to accomodate a Bigsby. Floyds, etc. will involve routing.
  6. Right, I do realize that. What I was really trying to ask is - does powertab really automatically tab something that is played into the PC? I always thought of it as a composition helper but not a transcriber. I think that's what the original question was asking for. Heh, I realize that too ... but as it is the nature of this forum, the discussion has shifted from that original question to PowerTab . I too questioned PowerTab's ability to "automatically tab something that is played into the PC" in an earlier post in this thread. My last post was intended to only address the part of your post that I quoted... about the horrible guitar sounds in PowerTab.
  7. Yeah, pretty bad... but it's not really PowerTab's fault, it's a limitation of your sound card/software synth. If your sound card has better sounds then by all means install them! I'm stuck with an older laptop with a crappy internal sound card, etc. I installed an old program called WinGroove http://www.wg7.com/en/wgdl.html not perfect but much better than stock . When installing it, be sure to have "install as driver" (or something like that) checked. After installation, verify in "WinGroove Setup" that "Driver Installation" is checked. Installation will make .mid file association with the WinGroove player. To use this driver in PowerTab, open the "MIDI" menu, then "Setup..." set the "Output Device:" to "WinGroove" (mine says "WinGroove (NT)" I assume because I'm on an XP box.) Switch it back and forth from the old one vs WinGroove to hear the difference... not the most convincing guitar sounds but better (tolerable anyway... I'm listening to a PowerTab midi of Triumph - Lay It On The Line as I write this .) Edit: I mention WinGroove because it's "free-ish." There are much better sounds out there but they cost $$$.
  8. Notice the mention of "5 positions" above corresponds to the 5 letters in "C-A-G-E-D" (hint, hint.) Heh, I'm a jerk .
  9. I thought about this a little more. The GLB's have a graphite neck and maple body. The GT-Pro's have a maple neck and maple body. The GT-Pro, like I said, is nicely balanced... and it's been reviewed that the GLB's are also nicely balanced. Maybe to compensate for the extra routing for the floyd, use a lighter wood like mahogany (Honduras, 545 kg/m^3 or African, 495 - 850 kg/m^3) for the neck and maple (755 kg/m^3) for the body. Edit: Hmm... even more thinking. I believe graphite is significantly denser than wood. If that's the case, the little extra routing for the floyd'd probably make little difference.
  10. Are you talking about goat's blue Erlewine lazer copy? Edit: found the link http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...?showtopic=4074
  11. It was Vendelcrow that built it for his son here: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...?showtopic=4916 Heh, that $700 trem is a trans-trem. The word is that Ned Steinberger is designing a newer and CHEAPER (cost-wise) "soon" . It'd almost be "cheaper" to buy that one but it depends on if you want a graphite neck, steinberger trem, etc. $300 Moses graphite neck $55 Langley headpiece $300 Steinberger S-trem currently not listed on that page (other choices for bridge, $700 for T-trem or $90 for R-trem.) $198 2 EMG-85's $853 Total... plus shipping... and no body, gig bag, paint, etc yet . As far as how well the trem holds up, on the steinberger mailing list, people are still using the original ones from the 80's. If you just want the compact look of the steinberger "L" series, a wood neck with a speedloader would be awesome, don't ya think!
  12. but my radius is 12 (((((((((( Radius? Those are gauges . From krazyderek's site, radii available: "Speed Loader 6-String, with 9.5", 12" or 17" radius" so you'd be fine! I believe those were Steinbergers. You won't be able to use it as a direct replacement... you'd have to fill the R-trem rout and re-rout for the floyd with a similar mod for the nut. It'd probably be "easier" to build an steiny "L" body from scratch. I have a GT-Pro and the balance is great! I don't know how a floyd rout would affect the balance though.
  13. Here's something similar: http://guitarelectronics.zoovy.com/product/WDUHH5L1102 It has outer series rather than inner series like the DiMarzio link. Edit: Hmm... wrong link, let me search some more.
  14. I don't think you should worry about this. If you're pressing that hard behind the fret, enough to alter the note, I think you need to examine your playing technique (think of players of scalloped fretboards.) I just tried on my bass guitar... I had to really TRY to press down hard enough to alter the note.
  15. Did you have it insured (UPS?) http://www.ups.com/forms/e-mail/damage?loc=en_US
  16. I think ibreakemineedtobuildem wants to see what condition it's in. I know I would if it were me .
  17. Try to extrapolate C-A-G-E-D from below : (Clue: The above scale that wylde1919 posted is the "G") O O O +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ II | O O O | | V O O X X X O VII O O O O | O +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ O X O | O X | | | | O | X O | | X X +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ | | | O | | O X O O | O | | O X | | +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ O O X X X O X O | | O X O X X O O O +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ 6 1 6 1 6 1 O O +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ X O O X O O O XII O O O X O X +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ | | | | | | O | | | X O +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ O O O X O X | O X O | | +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ O | | | X O O X O | O O +-+-+-+-+-+ +-+-+-+-+-+ 6 1 6 1 Confused yet!
  18. Related to what daveq just posted is what's called the "C-A-G-E-D" system. I'm not going to post what it is but when you understand what/how it works, the light bulb will come on and you'll exclaim a big "Oh, I get it! It's so simple!" .
  19. I'd give a nod to Carvin... order it, try it out for 10 days... if your friend doesn't like it return it... no questions asked .
  20. Hmm... is this true only for Mesa amps or all tube amps?
  21. Ah, ok... hold on for a day or so... someone that has used that switch might post something later. Oh, and welcome to Project Guitar!
