  1. Definitely interesting... why is the piece on the left side thicker than all the rest?
  2. That headstock carve is a thing of beauty Scott... I think if I attempted something like that it would end up like your first pic
  3. I agree with Scott, the color is looking really sweet indeed, much cooler than solid blue!
  4. I'm not a fan of V's either, but this one does have a cool vibe to it. I really like the way the single coil route works with the V body, and the headstock fits the body really nice also. Great execution man
  5. The 4th body down in the rack looks wild... what kind of wood is that? Really like that body style coming out of the CNC in the last pic, especially with a nice figured top, very cool..
  6. As insanely figured as the top is for this, it's almost a shame to cover that limba with anything. It's so ghostly cool looking!
  7. Thanks guys! First thing I thought of was a bat flying... Makes it a little more interesting anyway Here is the final color... decided I wanted it a little darker and I think it matches with the natural Mahogany color a little better. Now I have a week or so to change my mind before the clear I ordered gets here The faux binding came out really clean, wipe on poly is definitely the way to go. Much easier than taping or/and spraying clear... Pretty easy to remove as well
  8. Thanks! It took a ton of patience to get it right, something I often struggle with very much... Started the dye job tonight... I put a few coats of wipe on poly on the edges to keep them clean for the faux binding... Started with dark brown to block back to highlight the grain... After blocking back with 100, 220, and 600 I hit it with some purple.... Think this is the right color, I think it turned out great, the flame really pops out in person... This weird shape came out behind the bridge, looks like a head with wings coming out of it
  9. Thanks! It started out pretty thin so I didn't have to take much off the top. Right now it's 1 5/8" same thickness as my RG's
  10. HAHA! Thanks man... I really like the way the eye turned out The good news is I really don't have to do anything with the neck pocket. I made the neck pocket with about a 2 deg angle, but I didn't route it quite deep enough, so I originally had to shim the front of the pocket to get the bridge to work with the saddles raised about as high as they would go. I figure with the extra 1/4" and no shim it should be good to go...
  11. Routes came out just a little better this time If I was going to do it again, I'd probably patch the cavities in before putting the top on, but with the pickups in you can't tell anyway...
  12. And here it is now after cleaning up the edges and stripping the back. The edges came out awesome nice and tight…Put a little Naptha on to show the grain better.
  13. So on goes a nice Flamed Maple top a bit over 1/4" thick Had to bend the top around the arm contour with a little steam and clamping. Took awhile, but it does work... You really have to pay attention to the edges and make sure they are super straight and sharp to get the glue join tight enough so it doesn't look like crap...
  14. I decide to fix my first build up a little. The neck came out really nice, but the body got screwed up when my template slipped and I didn’t realize it until it was a little too late. I tried to fill it a little with epoxy and paint, but it still looked pretty bad. At that point I really just wanted to get it strung up and try it out, so I called it good and put it together. It plays awesome, but every time I look at the pickup routes it made me cringe… Here it is all completed the first time…. 15. I have to agree with Scott... as much as I love a BSB I think the Ghost Pinto should stay the way it is too!!! That thing has serious mojo/voodoo already
  16. Yes sir that's what I meant... After seeing your pic, I used my planer with 80 grit to do the same, but for a scarf joint
  17. Whoa man... beautiful job on the bookmatching! Thanks for showing the pics of using the planer to clean up the headstock surface... Used that method for a scarf I just did and it worked great!
  18. That SS... I teh wants I thought it looked wicked in black, but it's absolutely evil now. If I made that I don't think I'd be able to let it go...
  19. Wow man...... that quilt is intense. You got a nice chunk of wood there Scott...
  20. About time you started a new one Scott... and for a good cause too. Looking forward to this one
  21. Hey congrats William... it looks killer man! When you switched to the Fast Track and did the intro to SCoM the sound was huge!!! I should have kept that pickup
  22. They were all very sweet guitars! I voted for "Red Planet", loved the carve; such a beautiful looking instrument! Thanks for all the kind words for Wengie, it means a lot guys!
  23. Looks cool man.... I like the blue pearl it's subtle but sets it off a bit more than plain white
  24. If "a bit far afield" means lots of pics, cool ideas, sweet guitars being built, and maybe a little strangeness going on... then yes :croudwaits
